rant about YT content creators

Why do some YouTube creators choose to be openly antagonistic and hostile to their own audiences?

I've come across a few YouTube creators that put out some quality content. However, these same creators are openly antagonistic (and sometimes verbally hostile on camera) toward their own audiences. They will literally look into the camera and blame their audience for things that are almost bizarre. This seems counterproductive to me.

This one guy looked into the camera and openly blamed his own audience for someone messing with his son's car. Why was it the fault of someone in the audience (most who live hundreds or thousands of miles away), and not some random local loser that who chose to vandalize his son's car at random? I have no idea.

Another guy got upset with his audience for calling his cell phone in the evening to conduct business (the YouTube channel is business related... he buys and sells used equipment on his own). If he really can't come up with a possible solution for that on his own, without blasting his own audience, then he's in the wrong line of work. Here's one solution.... Phone rings in the evening. Look at your phone. Don't recognize the number? Then let it go to a thing called "voice mail" that has existed for decades now, and then return the call at your convenience the next morning. Duh. Problem solved. Don't take it out on your audience.

Another has hostile back and forths with the camera because of people who have left him comments on past videos that he was offended by. The problem is, these comments based on the fact that there can be multiple ways to come up with the same successful end result. But the creator views the way that he does things to be the *only* correct way to do it.

I do not find this type of dialogue to be worthy at all. However, there are some otherwise talented creators who seem to thrive on it.

Is there something that I'm missing here? Or have I stumbled onto some people who are talented, but just have flaws with their own personalities in dealing with other people?

I think you need to find better content.

But I wonder if these content creators need to get out more too. Some of this seems like stuff that would be fixed with a two way conversation, face to face, to resolve issues. Sometimes all we need is a friend to point out something "duh" to us. But these guys are too busy making videos to get that.

Personally if I do my research on a particular item, i read reviews from a bias source, but also look at multiple YT reviews. I have found that you might get information from one person and the next YT clip you will get completely different information sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worst. That's been my findings in a lot of things but I usually dig pretty deep in research before I buy something or follow anyone's online suggestions.

I've unsubscribed from some I've found annoying but the only one I ever blocked was Scotty Kilmer.

Too funny...
Why is that? I actually forgot about him. He is definitely entertaining. I remember when a few years ago somebody spread fake news about his death. Or he might did it himself to get more attention.
He has now an Amazon shop. The description of his videos are full of products linking to Amazon. Just checked his channel - hilarious. :ROFLMAO:

I think I have the answer as I have seen this on a tuber I used to watch regularly and refuse to watch now. For whatever reason these popular youtube creators caught an audience. They started to make real money, might even have been able to quit there job and do youtube full time because enough money was rolling in.

Then as normally happens, interest wains. Even the most popular TV shows don't last forever, and some really popular ones only last a couple seasons then the audience moves on. Of course the youtube creators assumed there fame would last forever. Now all of the sudden they have less interest, less clicks, less money. They get bitter and "stick it to the man", who in this case is their audience.

Look at the views of the creator your refering. Were there episodes a couple years ago getting exponentially more views than there episodes from a month ago?

I watch several YouTube channels and never have come across this issue. Bad content creator I'd guess.

Anyone can start a YouTube channel and upload videos. I've unsubscribed from some I've found annoying but the only one I ever blocked was Scotty Kilmer.
I liberally use the "don't show me content from this creator again" liberally, otherwise they continue to be in your feed. If you literally watch one for 1 minute then every second one in your feed is them.
