Race fuel after COVID-19

One thing that doesn't seem affected by the current pandemic crisis is the cost of race fuel. I use unleaded 100 octane race gas in my SCCA Nissan Z, but the cost still seems to be around $8-10/gallon. Anybody have any answers about why this is, even as regular unleaded is starting to drop to under $1.30/gallon?

Race gas isn't a commodity like normal gas. Plus the cost of their production of small amounts of race gas isn't as dependent on the cost of the gas they buy.

I used to get 96 and 104 at about $6.00 per gallon at the race track. But the quantities used per year, of this kind of gasoline, is less than a single refinery's production for a single day (maybe a single afternoon).

Most "racers" I know that don't run RUG run some form of alcohol, I recommend you do too, especially if you also drive it on the street.
