Purge valve

I posted the below a month ago. I received an answer that said “Yes. You'll get a CEL once the EVAP monitor runs again.”

My question is Should it have come on by now?
I bought this car about a year ago and have put 20,000 miles on it and it could have been disconnected since then.
It’s like a clean cut so i don’t know if someone could have cut it for a reason and i don’t want to screw something up that’s working well.
Thanks

Hi
I have a 2011 Camry V6 in a hot climate and while looking for an AC Freon leak my mechanic asked if I had a check engine light on. No
He found 2 wires severed going into the purge valve near the air filter box.
I have no lights on on the dash nor do I have any driving problems.
Should I buy the harness and reconnect?

You may not receive a CEL for the purge valve. I just replaced a purge valve on a 2014 Buick Encore, based on the symptoms given, had to diagnose from the live data. The car had trouble starting after filling up on gas, spiked short term fuel trim, and the fuel tank wouldn't pressurize and vent correctly.

My car runs great
No issues or symptoms at all

If you have no lights on the dash and no symptoms what is the purpose of this post? No one here can tell you if or when it will come on.
To see if some of more intelligent people (not you) here think i should leave well enough alone or reconnect it.

The purge valve failed on my wife's CR-V, a common problem on them. It did not throw a CEL, but a "Check Fuel Cap" message appeared repeatedly in the dash. I checked the old valve after removing it and it appeared to be functioning, yet replacing the valve cleared the message.

Does the CEL in this vehicle come on at all? Like when the key is on but the engine isn't running?

(Since someone apparently cut the wires intentionally, perhaps they also disabled the CEL, intentionally...)
yes it comes on while starting
thanks

Are you sure it's the purge valve?
V6 Toyotas (like my V6 Camry) have several vacuum switching valves scattered around the engine bay for active engine mounts, air intake runners/induction doors, etc

Take a picture of what's broken and where

Why not better explain what you mean by "spiked short term fuel trim", not everyone will know what you mean.

Interesting you are able to infer my intelligence through a computer screen. Though I will say your sentence structure leaves a bit to be desired.

Here's a free tip. Sensitivity and internet forums seldom get along.
