I have become skeptical with mobil 1's and other expensive syn oil's claims to being the perfect lubricant, especially after becoming a BITOGer. Don't think they justify the premium paid.

I have analyzed much info on this site and others as well as spent many hours pouring over oil products at Walmart, Advance Auto etc, to include pricing. It was fun at times and frustrating at others due to lack of outcomes information for the different products.

My odyssey boiled down to this...is it going to be Motorcraft's fine synthetic blend and great uoa's or will it be Walmart's synthetic with its encouraging uoa's? I think, for the money, they represent the best value/protection benefit out there. Especially for my

The incremental cost of a synth over a blend/dino is statistically insignificant relative to the cost of owning a vehicle.

Is the $20-$30 a year you'll save mean anything compared to the annual depreciation of your vehicle?

I assume that means you need 5-20 as to choosing MC over Tropartic. I'd favor the MC based on price as I don't see performance differences in your 5000 OCI in DCs mild climate.

its not about the 20-30 bucks saved my friend.
if that were the case this board would be useless and everyone would be using mobil one and doing 5ooo oci's. uoa's would b superfluous and dino's obsolete.

u missed my point. its about doing whats best in the most effecient, price conscious manner.
the best bang for my buck...

tropartic is a good thought...

Well i said it in the other thread, but i guess i'll say it here too.

Between motorcraft blend and walmart synthetic, I would pick walmart synthetic every single time. It isn't even a close call in my book.

youre echoing my thoughts sxg6!

it may just be that walfart syn is the new king of the hill when factoring in price/performance...

Well I prefer oil that comes in 5 quart conatiners, because it's easier to pour the old oil into that container to drop it off somewhere to be recycled.

I mean that's not the number one thing I look at, but all other things being equal (or nearly so), I would go with the WM ST Synth for that reason.
