Not much to say about these, solid, well built filter. No extra glue, super deep pleats. I couldn't pry the metal end caps off by hand. (I probably could have, but the edges are sharp and I'm going on 3 hours of sleep today, I figured I'd end up slicing my hand open).

Going to use them on my J Series cars. Yes, I know the gasket is a bit bigger than what you would normally use, but there is plenty of metal on the J-series for it to seal to. The Acura is going through some R&P cleaning, so I wanted to go back to a bit bigger filter in case I needed to catch a lot of crud.

Comparison to a 3593A sized filter

Purchased these in Sept 2025 for a whopping $1.34ea. ($2.25 after shipping)

Let's not forget very recently these filters were tearing while in regular use due to it's poorly made filter media. So unless they finally updated the filter media to where it doesn't tear well you likely ProTec-T your engine by not using it.

The cars have survived several torn Purolators in the past and is still ticking at over 180k on one and 310k on the other. #notworried

They're changed every 5k.

Also, as tough as it was to tear the media out if they tear, then something else is likely wrong.

So you run these filters, they tore on you and then you continue to run them interesting.

And according to you something else must be wrong because you admitted they tore, must be the cars fault and not the junk build quality of the oil filter.

No, I ran some purolators ages ago that tore.

If these filters tear, there is something bad wrong. The media is strong and hard to tear by hand.

Are you referring to the torn anti drain-back valve issues years ago? i'm referring specifically to the issues of torn filter media.
No, they were torn media.

According to my maintenance log it was a Purolator PL14459. Single tear.

There were a few that I used around that same time that didn't tear.

Not that I need to explain myself but.

I cut every filter that comes off of every car I own.

If I notice a pattern, then I'll quit using the filter.

I don't buy junk from Ebay or Amazon.

If the filters become a problem, I'll toss them in the trash, but I see nothing in this virgin filter that would give me pause, so on they will go. Even if it does have a tear, it will likely be minor and I'm not concerned it will do harm to the engines.

They'll be used on my two J-Series motored Honda cars.

That's just a reflection. It was super hard to get a picture of the date code and you couldn't even see it in about 5 of the pics I took. No dents.

Unlike the other recent "ProTec (wix)" topic does look to be a Wix based/made filter, likely in Gastonia NC. The date code format, coil compression spring and spacer-(replacing Wix thread end bypass) the identifiers. What I can see, looks to be ok/decent, especially for the cost. Silicone adbv on a jobber nice.

Thanks for c&p.
