Pretty ships in world of warships

Updates to the Fleet...

My new addition is the British Royal Navy TVI Cruiser LEANDER. I have a lot of ships researched ready to purchase but it would take many millions more than I have earned so far to buy them all. Keeping a minimum amount in reserve so I have to grind out the cash to buy the ships. They are researched though and ready to buy.

Coming soon( soon as I earn the green
lol.gif
)...

USN:
TII Destroyer SAMPSON
TV Battleship NEW YORK
TVI Cruiser CLEVELAND

IJN:
TVII Cruiser MYOKO ( may not - don't really care for the IJN ships )

GER:
TIV Destroyer V-170
TV Battleship KONIG
TVI Cruiser NURNBERG

RUS:
TV Cruiser KIROV

For now though it is just the LEANDER which cost me about 5,000,000 to buy and fully upgrade!!! Looking forward to the next BRN Cruiser the TVII FIJI but that's a long way off ( 70,000 XP and 5,500,000 just for stock ship ).

Congrat's Nick on the new ship. I added a new one to my fleet today as well.

USN TVI Cruiser CLEVELAND. 12 152MM guns that fire very 7 seconds!!!! Just rains shot down on the enemy. May not do a ton of damage p/ shell but the shear number of them is awesome. Now the enemy can do this instead of me when a CLEVELAND is on the map...
27.gif

And, despite being as big as a Battleship it is fast and maneuverable. It can actually take a hit and not instantly lose 1/2-3/4 of it's strength as well. What a difference over the previous USN Cruisers PHEONIX and OMAHA. It's like going from high school JV straight to the majors.

Thanks. His ships are WAY better than the ones I have. He has played longer of course but he is much, MUCH, better at the game and has awesome ships.

No new additions to my fleet as of yet. Still grinding away trying to earn the resources to move up to the BRN TVII Cruiser FIJI. However, I thought I might post some photos of a ship goal I have for the future. Going to take hundreds of games to earn the resources to get it but it is nice to have something to shoot for( no pun intended ).

Ultimately I want to get to and be able to play the British Royal Navy TX Cruiser the HMS MINOTAUR. It is the highest level ship in the BRN Cruiser line. Only other ships from the BRN I would covet more would be the HMS HOOD and HMS PRINCE OF WALES but neither is in the game at this time and most likely they would be added in a separate Heavy Cruiser line( all current ones considered Light Cruisers ), as Battleships( they aren't but have heard this is possible ), or as premium ships you have to buy. Would love those ships but until they are actually in the game the MINOTAUR is the ultimate BRN ship and goal.

What a BEAST! 10 152MM guns mounted in 5 turrets( 3 front and 2 rear ). They have a standard fire rate of once every 3.2 seconds. Yes, just 3.2 seconds to shoot and reload. And that is the stock rate of fire. It can be dropped to just 2.8 seconds to shoot and reload with Main Battery Mod 3. So think about it. Once upgraded each gun can fire 21.4 shots p/ minute. Multiply that by 10 guns and this thing can throw 214 shells at the enemy p/ minute. That is crazy. Even stock it throws 18.75 shells p/ gun p/ minute so 187 shells p/ minute for all 10. WOW! Range is lower than most at this tier at just 15.76km however so you have to be closer which can be a problem.

The turrets rotate at insane speeds as well. They can rotate 180 degrees in just 4.74 seconds. Basically almost as fast as you can switch the mouse pointer to the other side of the screen/ship and adjust your view the turrets have rotated. It is insane how fast that is. Some ships in this game take a minute to fully rotate turrets. 20-30 seconds to go from one side to the other is more the norm for Cruisers so imagine it happening in under 5 seconds.
crazy2.gif

It also has a 4X4 torpedo setup which means 2 sets of 4 tube torpedo launchers p/ side. It has a great 10K range on it's torpedoes, they reload fast, and they are potent. It is fast at 33.5 knots and very maneuverable to boot. It has sonar and can be equipped with either radar or a smoke generator too. While it only has 43,400 strength which puts it next to last in the Tier X Cruisers, and means it can be taken out with 1 salvo if hit properly by a high tier Battleship, it's great speed and maneuverability, very good torpedoes, low detection rating, and those amazing guns mean in the right hands it can be a monster.

Here are some cool shots of it I found online. Below the photos is a video from The Mighty Jingles who does awesome WOWS videos on YouTube. In the video it shows all about the ship and then shows some live action battles with it. Pay attention at 3:50, 6:31, and 7:56 of the video to really see those guns and turrets in action. In the 6 and 7 minute sections you can actually see how the guns fire so fast that there is almost an unbroken stream of shot raining down on the enemy ships that looks like a ribbon. Check out the whole video if interested but definitely check out those markers.

I can't wait for the day I can get my hands on one.

British Royal Navy HMS MINOTAUR

No new ships added to the fleet yet. Higher up in the game now so it takes a lot longer. I am working single mindedly towards the BRN TVII Cruiser FIJI and am a little over 1/2 way there. I play the simpler version of the game( Co-Op = human vs AI BOTS )mostly vs the one where you get a lot more resources( Random = human vs human ). I just prefer the Co-Op games. Takes me about 3X's longer to build resources but I enjoy the game play more.

Anyway, I do have an update to add. Decided that seeing as I enjoy playing my BRN TVI Cruiser LEANDER so much that I will keep it. To help with it's ability to earn resources( any help is good as I can only be online so much due to vision issues )I bought the permanent camo for it today. Now I will always have a camo skin for the ship. It adds the following bonuses...

-3% to detectability range by sea. Detection range by enemy ships drops from 10.26 km to 10.0 km.
+4% to maximum shell dispersion of enemy ships. This makes it harder for the enemy to hit me. it makes their shells less accurate. ( ANY help is huge in this game )
+30% to XP earned. This is the big one as you need experience(XP) to research stuff in the game. 30% is a big boost.

I am really beginning to love this ship even with it's low gun range( just 13.2km )and thin armor( it can NOT take a lot of hits ). If you play it right it is like an angry hornet buzzing around the enemy team. I am getting good at using it's smoke screen to shoot out of and set up torpedo traps. If I make a mistake I pay for it but play smart and it gets the job done.

Shots of the new camo and a shot of a couple battle results from today. Nothing earth shaking but decent games in it( actually 90K+ in damage is a good game ). Especially since the game's match making system today has been out of it's mind adding me to games where there are 5-7 Battleships p/ side of Tier VII and VIII. Just NUTS!!!!

New Leander Type 16 Permanent Camo...

Games Results... ( usually I have 150-200 main gun hits with the Leander but today as said ^^^ there were so many high tier BB's the 152MM guns were pretty useless. Focused more on torps and only using guns when I was safe in smoke as it draws their attention when you shoot at them - they start to drool and go "Oh a Leander = LUNCH"
crackmeup2.gif

FINALLY I was able to add the BRN TVII Cruiser HMS FIJI to my fleet.
thumbsup2.gif
thumbsup2.gif

This is the 1st ship for me that took a LOT of what is called grinding( game after game after game after game... ). Took even longer for me as I play 95% of my games in Co-Op which has a much lower payout so it takes longer than playing Random( I just don't like it ).

As Nick and I have mentioned before you play to earn XP( experience )and money( credits )which is then used to research and buy higher tier ships. Up through tier 6 it isn't all that bad but at tier 7 is where it starts to take a lot longer and cost a lot more and the higher you go the longer it takes and more expensive it gets. That is why I bought the premium camo for my TVI Leander shown above as it increases your XP bonus so it helped me get what I needed faster.

I earned enough to research and buy the Fiji yesterday afternoon but didn't get around to it until just now. I have not done any of the major hull, torpedo, or firing system improvements yet as I really don't have the credits( could but it would drop me below my self imposed bottom line )and I don't want to blow all my Free XP as it takes XP to research those things before you can buy it. I was able to buy the ship and do some minor upgrades to the guns aim, steering, magazine protection, and repair ability however. Fiji @ $5,500,000 + upgrades @ $1,875,000 = $7,375,000. This gets me a bare bones stock ship with the slight mod's mentioned. I now have to start playing it to earn XP and $$$ to fully upgrade it. That will take...

Hull B Upgrade = +3900 HP + 4 AA Guns + slight improvement to steering @ 18,500 XP / $1,300,000
Main Guns MKVII Mod 2 = +10% Firing Range @ 12,500 XP / $1,200,000
Torpedo Upgrade = +434 Damage p/ Torpedo @ 12,000 XP / $1,000,000

Total needed to fully max upgrades = 43000 XP & $3,500,000
crazy2.gif
lol.gif

Also plan on buying the Fiji's permanent Type 17 Camo but that actually costs REAL money so not sure when but probably soon as it will really help earn the resources to upgrade the ship. It provides( all of the bonuses are really helpful )...

-3% to detectability range by sea.
-5% to post battle service costs.
+4% to maximum shell dispersion of enemy ships.
+50% to XP earned p/ battle.

So, I am looking forward to playing this new ship a lot. I really learned to love playing the TVI Leander and the Fiji is a Leander on steroids so I should like it too. Only bad is I now have to face up to TIX ships which is scary. TVIII in the Leander was bad enough. I don't know if I will ever get to the tier 10 Minotaur like I want( see above )? Will take untold hours and games to do it. I was at least able to get the Fiji however so I feel good that goal was reached at least.

Few Fiji stats...

Nation: British Royal Navy(BRN)
Tier: 7(VII)
Ship Type: Light Cruiser(CL)
Survivability(HP): 27,500 HP ( +3900 Hull B = 31,400 HP + 2450 HP w/ SE Captain Skill = 33,850 HP )
Maximum Speed: 32.5 knots

Main Armament: 4X3 152MM ( 2 turrets front and rear )
Main Gun Range: 14km ( +10% Main Guns MKVII Mod 2 = 15.4km )
Rate Of Fire(ROF)/Reload(RL): 8 shots per min ROF / 7.5 seconds RL
Shell Type: Armor Piercing(AP)

Secondary Guns: 4X2 102MM ( 2 turrets p/ side amidships )
Secondary Gun Range: 5.3km
Rate Of Fire(ROF)/Reload(RL): 20 shots per min ROF / 3.0 seconds RL
Shell Type: High Explosive(HE)

Torpedoes: 2X3( 1 launcher per side with 3 tubes )
Torpedo Range: 8KM
Reload(RL): 72 seconds
Max Damage P/ Torpedo: 15,433 HP ( Torpedo Upgrade +434 HP p/ torpedo = 15,866 )

Anti Aircraft Defense(AA): Assorted caliber and types around ship

40MM = 2X8 ( ( 2X2 + 2X4 with Hull B )
102MM = 4X2 ( ships secondary guns also act as AA )

So, after all that( which I am sure no one cares about
lol.gif
)here she is sporting some stock camo I had. Will post a few of her when I get the Fiji specific camo...

One other small update to the fleet...

I went ahead and bought the USN TVI Cruiser Cleveland's Type 16 Permanent Camo. Just as with Leander and soon to be with Fiji the camo helps to reduce the enemy's range where it sees you, makes it a little harder for them to hit you by increasing their shell dispersion, and gives a boost to your after battle gains.

Cleveland Type 16 Camo:

-3% to detectability range by sea.
+4% to maximum shell dispersion of enemy ships.
+30% to XP earned.

Now that I have the Fiji as outlined above I decided that even though I have a lot of ships in the German and Russian lines, as well as the USN Battleship line, researched and waiting to be purchased and played, that I am going to focus next on the USN TVII Cruiser Pensacola. That is why I bought the permanent camo for the Cleveland. It will help me shorten the grind as it did with Leander for Fiji.

Pensacola is one of those ships most people say is awful in the game. No one seems to like it and want to play it, calling it names like "PepsiCola" because it's armor is supposedly so bad( i.e. like a soda can ). Yet for me, I seem to do well in those and completely hate the ones everyone says are so great. WOWS has recently announced some changes to the Pensacola to improve it's performance as well so it has me intrigued to see if it is as bad as everyone says? So the Pensacola is my next ship although I reserve the right to change my mind if something goes on sale let's say
lol.gif
.

Anyway, here is the Cleveland's new duds...

Just had an awesome game with the Cleveland. Well, awesome from a fun perspective. It has one of the best AA suites in the game based on tier. I seldom have been asked specifically to play AA escort but was today. I always try and help the team so I agreed. Good lord the AA on this thing is INSANE! It just melts entire squadrons of bombers and torp planes. Every single squadron that came near me and the 2 Battleships I was covering was totally eliminated by my AA. I even made a dash and bailed our Carrier out that was under plane attack at one point too. Just a real blast. Even ended the day by sinking the enemy Carrier. Not a lot of ship damage done but sunk 3, saved our base from an enemy that snuck in, and shot down 21 planes. TWENTY ONE!!!

Got another update to the fleet. They are coming fast and furious the last couple days
lol.gif
. Wasn't planning on buying more ships, while I try and focus on getting to the USN TVII Cruiser Pensacola as I said above. However, WOWS put some of the German ships on sale this weekend and it just so happens I have had one researched for a while now I just hadn't purchased. So, like a true BITOG'er I grabbed the item while it was on sale for 50% off( $1,000,000 vs. $2,000,000 ).
crackmeup2.gif

The new addition is the KONIG...

Nation: German Navy(KM)
Tier: 5(V)
Ship Type: Battleship(BB)
Survivability(HP): 40,700 HP ( +6400 Hull B/C = 47,100 HP )
Maximum Speed: 21.6 knots ( +2.4 knots = 24 knots with Propulsion Upgrade )

Main Armament: 5X2 305MM ( 2 turrets front/rear and 1 amidships )
Main Gun Range: 14.5km ( +10% Main Guns FKS Type 5 Mod 2 = 16.0km )
Rate Of Fire(ROF)/Reload(RL): 2.3 shots per min ROF / 26 seconds RL
Shell Type: Armor Piercing(AP) and High Explosive(HE)

Secondary Guns:
88MM = 6X1 ( 4x2 with Hull B )
105MM = 4X2 ( Hull C only - replaces the 88MM's )
150MM = 14X1

Secondary Gun Range: 4.5km ( all )

Secondary Gun Rate Of Fire(ROF)/Reload(RL):
88MM = 15 shots per min ROF / 4.0 seconds RL
105MM = 17 shots per min ROF / 3.4 seconds RL
150MM = 7 shots per min ROF / 8.6 seconds RL

Secondar Gun Shell Type: High Explosive(HE) ( All )

Anti Aircraft Defense(AA): Assorted caliber and types depending on which Hull it has
Stock Hull = 6X1 88MM ( dual purpose secondary guns )
Hull B = 10X1 20MM / 6X2 37MM / 4X2 88MM( dual purpose secondary guns )
Hull C = 6X1 + 2X4 20MM / 8X2 37MM / 4X2 105MM ( dual purpose secondary guns )

I haven't played it yet and it may be a while before I do? I just wanted to grab it while I could on sale. I think it is nasty mean looking...

I FINALLY got around to playing a game in the FIJI after all that work to get there.
lol.gif
I am about 2/3 to the USN PENSACOLA but just got sick of "grinding" in the CLEVELAND and just playing Cruisers in general. Needed a change of pace so I have been playing the new KONIG Battleship I got a few days ago instead( LOVE this thing ). Nice change of pace. Might keep playing it mostly for a few more days.

I decided though that it was time to play the FIJI. It is still 100% stock plus the Captain is one I transferred from another ship that has to retrained so I am playing at the lowest possible performance level it can be played at right now.

I NEED to do the upgrades( hull for more life and guns for more range )but have to play it to earn the resources to do so. Took it for a spin just to check it out. Nice little ship. Love the guns. Never got to try the torps. To be honest after a few days of playing Battleships I forgot all about having torps to use.
lol.gif

Nothing spectacular about 1st game but not bad for stock ship against higher tiers in the 1st run with it. Saw my 1st Tier IX ship too( USN TIX Cruiser Baltimore )and I was like ...
27.gif
crackmeup2.gif
Man does it HURT when that thing hits you.

Anyway, as said, not a bad 1st game...

Time for another update to the fleet. One ship is sold off and a new one is added...

I have decided to abandon the Japanese ships completely at least for the foreseeable future. Just don't like the ships. So, I sold off the TVI IJN Cruiser AOBA today. I worked hard to get it but I just did not enjoy playing it. Feels good it is gone and no longer feeling like I have to play it because it is in my port.

So, with the money I got for selling it I finally purchased the USN TV Battleship NEW YORK. It is one of the ships I had researched, I mentioned previously, but had been holding off buying as I was focusing on other ships. It is the slowest of the T5 Battleships by quite a bit, has an excruciatingly slow gun reload time, but it has decent gun range and damage plus good armor.

When I sold the Aoba, I converted all the experience(XP) I had earned in it into Free XP and used that to fully upgrade the NEW YORK as in stock form it is really poor. Have played it a few times and it will take some getting used to for sure. The KM TV Battleship KONIG ^^^ is much better IMO.

So here is the newest member of the fleet USN TV Battleship NEW YORK ( note - all stats below are based on it now being fully upgraded )...

Nation: United States Navy(USN)
Tier: 5(V)
Ship Type: Battleship(BB)
Survivability(HP): 49,100 HP
Maximum Speed: 21 knots)

Main Armament: 5X2 356MM ( 2 turrets front/rear and 1 amidships )
Main Gun Range: 18.1km
Rate Of Fire(ROF)/Reload(RL): 1.75 shots per min ROF / 34.3 seconds RL
Shell Type: Armor Piercing(AP) and High Explosive(HE)

Secondary Guns:
127MM = 6X1

Secondary Gun Range:
4.2km

Secondary Gun Rate Of Fire(ROF)/Reload(RL):
8.57 shots per min ROF / 7 seconds RL

Secondary Gun Shell Type:
High Explosive(HE)

Anti Aircraft Defense(AA):
20MM = 8X1
40MM = 4X2
76.2MM = 10X1

I loved the Cleveland as a light cruiser. Great anti-aircraft, anti destroyer (DD), and sets battleships (BBs) on fire with it's high rate of accurate HE fire. Just won't take hits. You want to avoid slugging matches with other cruisers unless they are the wimpy British ones.

In my opinion, the Pensacola is a major disappointment. The next tier up, the New Orleans is a Pensacola that is a bit harder to see. I was so unhappy with those American cruisers, I went to German, and worked up to the Tier 8 Admiral Hipper. Then, after seeing some good players in the Tier 9 Baltimore, I went back to American and am enjoying the heck out of that ship. I've got anti-aircraft supercharge, radar and repair party plus the stealth upgrade.

American BBs get good with the North Carolina at Tier 8, but my favorite play is with the American DDs. They are class leaders, especially in the higher tiers.

Yeah the Cleveland is good and the AA is awesome. I posted some info on page 5 showing a great game( AA wise )I had with it. I was AA escort for some BB's and shot down 21 planes with it. Have had other games in the mid to high teens with it as well. It just obliterates whole squadrons of planes. Scary good AA at T6.

The HE is good as well( I don't have IFHE but do have DE - sets fires pretty easy ). I would say it is the most rugged of the Cruisers up to and including T6 but even then as you say it can only take so much. If Cleveland is moved to T8 when the US Cruiser line is adjusted/split as reported will happen eventually it needs some buff's. It is fine as is at T6 but at T8 it would be grossly overmatched. Will need more armor, HP, faster ROF or more shell damage( IMO it's damage is weak ). I think I read they actually nerfed it to put it at T6 so undue the nerfs and maybe it will be okay at T8? I miss having torps on the Cleveland. Feel lost without them on a Cruiser.

I wonder how the Pensacola will be viewed after people play it some following the buffs to it in the recent update to the game? Most seemed favorably inclined to the reported buffs before they came out so I wonder if they will translate to a better ship? I want to play the Pensacola just because so many bad mouth it.
lol.gif

I ran into a T9 USN Cruiser Baltimore in my 1st game with the Fiji and good googa-mugga does that thing hit hard. OUCH! Not ashamed to say I turned tail and ran. I was alone and it had help not far behind. It was time to get gone and...
27.gif
.

I actually like the T4 USN BB Wyoming. Fun to play. The T5 New York is so slow, and the guns take so long to reload, that it is hard to play. German BB's reload so much faster they can hit you 3X's for the 2X's you hit them. Does good damage when you hit and it is tough though. Looking forward to the T6 USN BB New Mexico and on up. Yes, the North Carolina is scary good. At least from the perspective of playing against it. Only T8 BB I dislike seeing more on the red side in my BRN Cruisers or Cleveland is Bismarck.

I absolutely LOVE the T5 German BB Konig. The 305MM's are a little light against the higher tier BB's it matches against but they just shred Cruisers. I have made many Devastating Strikes out to it's max 16km range with ease. Super accurate for a BB. Looking forward to the higher tier German BB's that are just beasts. They even have torps on many which is insane.
lol.gif

Here is where you and I split on things a bit. I absolutely LOVE the BRN Cruisers( T3-T7 except for T4 Danae which I hated with a passion ). I don't consider them wimpy at all. Fast and maneuverable with excellent torps makes them like big DD's almost. I also think the BRN Cruiser's ability to fire torps in spreads or singly is a huge advantage for them. I love that feature. Not a lot of guns through T5 but they are adequate with the very good BRN AP. Really, only Emerald that can see T7 suffers from the lack of guns IMO and at least it has smoke.

The BRN Cruisers really get good starting at T6 with the Leander. Man what a fun ship that is. The T7 Fiji is just awesome. I haven't played my Fiji a lot yet as I have been in a BB mood recently but it is a blast. Awesome guns and torps, super fast and maneuverable, plus smoke. Plays just like a DD on steroids.
crackmeup2.gif
. Someday I hope to get to the T10 Minotaur. Not a lot of HP on BRN Cruisers but there is enough plus you can add 350 HP p/ tier with the SE Captain skill. I have that on the Leander and Fiji. Those extra HP have made the difference for me in many many games with the Leander and have already in the Fiji a couple times as well despite so few games played with it..

I played a few DD's a while back and loved it at first but then realized long term it wasn't for me. IMO the BRN Cruisers are so like a DD, just with more OP guns and a lot more HP, that I get my fix of that style play with them. I got rid of my DD's about 3 weeks back or so. US DD's have awesome guns though and I hate it when one targets me from smoke and there is no way to spot it. All you can do then is turn and run.

I've been taking a bit of a break from the game lately, but here's my take on things.

The Aoba isn't that great, it's ok. Unfortunately, you sold it before the line really gets good (The Myoko is the best T7 cruiser in the game). I sold mine because I have all of the Arpeggio Myokos (Haguro, Ashigara, and Nachi) so I didn't need my tech tree one. The Mogami is great with the 155s and HEAP, it just wrecks stuff. Unfortunately a smaller HP pool and worse armor than the Myoko make it less comfortable, but still a fun ship.

The Pensacola is still not that fun to play, because of it's extremely poor armor design (see below). It has only 25mm (or 38mm) of citadel deck and athwartship armor, which means all enemy shells have to do is overmatch your plating, and 25mm of citadel armor, and you are done. The Indianapolis has a bit better armor, and longer range. The Pensacola is a bit more comfortable now with the better concealment, I have mine down to 10.9KM with Concealment expert and camo. The guns are still as good as ever of course, the very heavy American Piercing shells (lol) hit very very hard, even against broadside battleships (Citadeled a Nagato at 7KM with them the other day).

I'm finally working on my German and IJN BBs now, working through the Bayern (great bote), and the Fuso (I swear to god I burn to death in this thing all the time, and the shotgun sigma is frustrating), because I want the Bismarck and the Amagi (probably the strongest T8 BB in the game).

As far as the pensacola goes... Yeah.

Thanks Nick. I know the PENSACOLA is a "Glass Canon" but the BRN CL's are made of paper too and I have enjoyed them a lot. I just want to play it myself and see how bad it is. Might end up going %@#$ like I have with the IJN stuff but want to try anyway.
lol.gif

I know you told me it gets better after AOBA but I just hated that ship so much I didn't have it in me to finish the 25K some XP I needed to move on. Maybe some day but for now I wanted the port slot for something I would enjoy playing. For all of it's shortcomings the NEW YORK is far more fun to play.

I am actually getting into the BB stuff now and LOVE my Konig. Been playing almost exclusively BB for a while now with a couple FIJI games thrown in. I am over 1/2 way to Bayern so I am catching up to you in at least one place.

I haven't played the game today as we have a good blizzard going and the power keeps flickering. Don't want to go AFK on teammates. I am having withdrawals because of it LOL.

Update to the fleet.

Another ship has been retired and another new one added. This weekend is Russian Weekend so a lot of the Russian ships are on sale for 50% off. I decided to bite the bullet and buy the Russian TV Cruiser KIROV. I believe I have had the Kirov researched, but not purchased, longer than any ship so far to this point? I held off as I have read so many bad things about it's survivability. However, I saw video replays of a couple games where people played it and the guns are awesome(if slow to reload which I hate )! So I decided now was the time with the sale and all.

To make room I had to retire a ship as I am out of port slots and don't want to buy one. So, I have retired( sold )the Russian TIV Cruiser SVIETLANA. Nothing really bad or really good about it. Just an average low tier ship that I held onto until I got the KIROV so I had at least one Russian ship. No real loss. I transferred the Captain to the KIROV.

Haven't played it yet as the weather is bad today( Nor'easter )and my power keeps flickering as said in post to Nick ^^^. Don't want to be in a game and needed only to lose power and go AFK. Might try a couple quick games later just to see what it is like but won't be much. Can't wait to be able to play it regular and see if it is any good.

So here is the newest member of the fleet( note - all stats below are based on it being fully upgraded - I converted all the XP the SVIETLANA had to Free XP and had enough to fully upgrade KIROV )...

OMG what a horrible ship the Kirov is. What have I got myself into.

This one may not be long for the fleet.

Can you fire the guns individually? I find in Steel Ocean it helps with the slow reloading ships. You can drop a turrets worth as a sighter and adjust as they turn etc. Also with secondary guns its a good way to keep the other ships aiming off as they are getting rattled for 10 seconds straight.
Also perhaps you can configure your options and commander skills to emphasize one aspect of play? I set up my Ise battleship as a semi-moveable floating fort, adding extra armour and torpedo compartments, and commanders that make the ship tougher, and have better accuracy. All the extra armour makes it slow, but can take alot of hits while delivering a wallop. It doesn't lose too many broadside exchanges, and sunk many destroyers after they got close in to make a few torp hits.
