Not to brag but it has the lowest Noack (13%) dispite having the second highest VI (164) of the lot.

Yes the PC looks very good

PYB/Kendall tie for best additivse package, IMO. Not necessarily the best oils in the grouping seen.

Mobil Super/Special, Valvoline(NextGen and WB) look very similar. QSAD, Formula Shell, and Castrol also look solid.

VWB and PYB were low in sulfur.

I hate to see Formula Shell drop the moly from SM to SN, but it still has some. More importantly also a good shot of Boron instead!

The same goes for Kendall: Boron + titanium w/ moly = good additive package.

PYB some higher moly, shot of boron + calcium. The SOPUS products all have the higher calcium + combination of moly/boron.

To me Castrol looks like VWB, but with more sulfur.

Thanks for posting!

If I had to pick a favorite of the bunch it would be the Mobil Special due to it's 169 VI still with a very good Noack of 13.6%.

A very close second would be Petro-Canada with it's excellent 164 VI and lower Noack plus it's class leading (by far) viscosity at -30C of only 4587cP; no other oil is even close.
Petro-Canada is a major producer of low PP GP III base oils and I suspect they have included some in the formulation to acheive the synthetic level of cold temp' performance.

I just put QSGB SN in the Tribute (5W-20), looks great!

Interesting to see that Mobil 'Super' uses a large hit of Na detergent, while the Mobil 'Special' oil uses none. You'd think coming from the same place, the add-packs would be similar.

Thanks for all the hard work, Tom!

Wasn't me - I'm just an Advisor to PQIA. Tom Glenn is the president and does the hard work. He deserves the credit!

Sulfur is a component in the ZDDP anti-wear additive and in the detergent additives. You can't judge oil quality based on just the sulfur content as different detergents have different sulfur contents.

Well then thank Tom Glenn for driving all the way to Brockville, Ontario on the labour day week-end to pick-up a bottle of the PC Supreme 5w30! Or did he?

Yes he did, and enjoyed the Canadian Parliment buildings and the Rideau river locks. He travels all over to pick up oil samples.
