I took the memory stick out my old Sony camera to load copies of the pics on to a PC I had restored. The pics loaded into My Pictures folder fine, but I have two issues now.

I was editing one of the pics and saved it under the same file name instead of a different one, so I lost the original and can't locate the unedited version. Which leads to the second issue.

The memory stick now seems to not have a copy of the pics anymore. I never lost the originals on the memory stick by loading copies on to the PC before.

How can I get the original pic back that was edited, and what's the easiest way to save all 244 pics back on the memory stick. I'm not sure why they're not still on there in the first place.

I don't know. I thought I was copying the pics off the memory stick with the windows picture application like I have before.

I used a free file recovery program to read the lost pics and saved them to hard drive. Sony has one. I even recovered some pics I forgot I had taken.

Only thing sucks is the program doesn't restore the memory stick to the way it was and it won't display any files unless the recovery program scans it. I guess maybe you could copy the pics back on to the memory stick. I'm not sure idea how they got deleted.

Windows recovery does not affect data; only system files.

Check and see if the option to delete after copying is selected. I haven't used the windows photo utility in a very long time, but I remember something like that being there. This won't help you now, but could on the next transfer.
