I know very little about this brand but it's basically free for life from a certain retailer.

Right now I'm looking at Pento High Performance II 5W40 "full synthetic" (PAO?). Can't really dig up much besides a basic product sheet. Anyone know how this stacks up compared to trusty Edge 0W40?

I'd say with that high flash point, and euro-targeted specs, it's PAO. Keep in mind this is from 2016.

Appearance Amber & Clear
Density at 15°C 850 kg/m³
Density at 20°C 846 kg/m³
Kinematic Viscosity at 100°C 13.9 mm²/s
Kinematic Viscosity at 40°C 84 mm²/s
Kinematic Viscosity at 20°C 168 mm²/s
Viscosity Index 171 Dynamic Viscosity at -30°C 5700 mPa*s
Pour Point -42°C/-43.6°F
Flash Point 240°C/464°F

Pentosin makes excellent oils. But I would not pay more than Mobil 1, Castrol Edge or Pennzoil Euro for them.

Free refills for life after the first purchase, minus shipping. This place also offers BMW TPT, VW\Audi boxed oils, and the full range of Liqui-Moly products. If they carried Edge or M1 0W40 I would definitely be going for that.

It is majority group III. Pour point indicates that.
But, Pentosin is excellent brand, and most famous for power steering fluids.

It is old, trusty brand. They became part of Fucsh few years back. Fuchs is largest manufacturer of industrial lubricants in Germany.

I bought up about 30+ quarts of 5w-40 and the 5w-30 Super Performance III when I walked into a random Advance Auto that I never go into. I have never seen Pentosin oil in any AA, but they had it for marked down from 12 bucks a bottle to 2. My 2017 Nissan Frontier and 2006 Acura TSX have been happy with it.

Granted, old MSDS....

I would use Pentosin Pento Super Performance III which carries VW504 without hesitation in my VW.

Wow had no idea they covered fluids with that program. I was curious about the Pento engine oils as well - have used their diff/tranny oil in the past.
