I haven't seen many people talk bad about any brand of oil. There has to be a few oils out there that people don't like and wouldn't recommend.

How about those cheap non brand name oils you see in Convenient stores? They are usually in yellow bottles and usually only give the viscosity. Sometimes in Spanish. Maybe it's a Texas thing.

Castrol Syntec or Royal Purple. I`d never bash anything without experience with it,and I had really bad results with both of these oils.

Syntec gave me bad lifter tick and piston slap on startups, hot or cold.

Royal Purple gave my car lifter tick and billowing smoke on first of the day startups.

10W30. It did it in three different cars. 1986 300ZX Turbo,1998 3000GT SL,and my current 1996 300ZX n/a.

-drools- all awesome cars

Out of all the oils I`ve ever used.....Syntec,Syntec Blend,GTX,Valvoline,RP,and Mobil 1,Mobil 1 kicks some serious booty and has worked the best for me!!!!!!!!!! Valvoline running a close 2nd best! I actually just got back from Walmart with a 5 quart jug of M1 15W50 (I bought the very last one. All the 15W50 quarts were gone, and I snagged the last 5 quart jug

The only oil i don't really think much of is autozones house brand, i forget what it's called. Not so much because of its formula or anything, but because i remember something about them knowingly putting 5w30 in 10w-30 bottles, or vice versa. I don't remember exactly what happend, so it could've been just by mistake. Anyways, I just don't trust that brand anymore.

im confused, you just said syntec is the worst.. now you say its best?

He said Mobil 1 was good, with Valvoline a close 2nd. He only mentioned that he used Syntec not that it was any good.

I just got the anti-Quaker State rant from some old guy at WalMart. His mechanic said so, no matter what I said, I was wrong.

Hmmmm, I have used a lot of Syntec in multiple vehicles and have never had any of the problems aquariuscsm attributed to it.

I regularly recommend that people stay away from house brand and other no name oils. Why buy mystery oil when good deals on well respected name brands are so readily available?

Yeah, guess I should`ve previewed my post. Here`s the corrected version:

Out of all the oils I`ve ever used.....Syntec,Syntec Blend,GTX,Valvoline,RP,and Mobil 1,Mobil 1 kicks some serious booty and has worked the best for me!!!!!!!!!! Valvoline running a close 2nd best! *Syntec and RP being the worst*.I actually just got back from Walmart with a 5 quart jug of M1 15W50 (I bought the very last one. All the 15W50 quarts were gone, and I snagged the last 5 quart jug).

I reccomend against using Kendall motor oil. No reason to believe that it wouldn't work ok... but it's GREEN. Looks like bargain-basement hydraulic oil. It's just wrong.
