To start off, I'm plenty familiar with Japanese and specifically Toyota engines but not too familiar with the B58 or BMW in general so I need some guidance here:

1. What kind of vehicle you have:

2020 Toyota Supra BMW B58 engine

2. What your owner's manual says -- SN C5 0w-20. Specifically calls for Toyota's GR Supra oil

3. Where you live:

Florida

4. How you drive (easy? hard? fast? slow?):
All of the above

5. What your daily drive is like (short trips? long trips? city? highway?):

Mostly short city drives. Some long distance highway

6. Whether your car has any known problems:

None

I prefer synthetic

Thanks!

I would use the oil rating Toyota recommends. With in the specs, oil is pretty much the same.

The C5 0w20 Bimmer spec is LL-14FE or LL-17FE. There isn't much available outside of a dealership, maybe a few boutique options, I know Total makes one.

If it was my car I'd probably use LL04 if the Z4 manual allows it.

It is rebadged BMW TPT 0W20.

Does it say the following in the Owner's Manual like most all other new Toyotas?

"An oil with a higher viscosity (one with a higher value) may be better suited if the vehicle is operated at high speeds, or under extreme load conditions"

If so I would say your covered if you choose to go off the reservation.

Just looked up the Z4 specs

LL-01 FE, LL-14 FE+ or LL-17 FE+. 0W-20 or 0W-30.

If I owned it I would run the xW30 in German or French descent.

Lease ? It would depend on how it runs and if Im satisfied.

if its clanky and clattery I would move to the 30 grade.

Even my VW 1.4 litre with a nice aspect factor piston doesn't like FE Brit or French True synthetic 0W20 oils.
I had to add a bit of 0W40 to get it thick enough to run proper.

Nice car, but too powerful and too fast for the intended application.

I'm going back to classic Michigan, America Iron from the mid sixties to get some REAL overall driving satisfaction

The 0w30 LL01FE is good oil but pretty much impossible to find outside of a BMW dealer.

End of the day the 0w20 will be fine unless you are tracking (road course). In which case I would use LL04 or LL01.

30 grade would be LL01FE, or a very heavy 30 grade is LL01 and LL04 (these are basically 40 grades)

LL01FE is good for a daily driver with some back road jaunts from time to time, but you will pretty much have to get it from the BMW/Mini dealer, it's about $9 per quart.

LL01/LL04 are more common and easier to find, they are the heaviest duty oils but a bit overkill for the street and will cost you very slightly (maybe 1%) in fuel mileage.
