What's wrong with Kirkland? My brother uses it in his $60K Ford F-150 with the 3.5l Ecoboost.

The price of vehicle does not mean anything.
Intended purposes of engines are different.
An no, Kirkland is absolutely NOT good option for this engine.

You should. When you say 0W20 oils, most people think it is same thing that goes in 4cyl Camry.
The reason why 0W20 is recommended is CAFE. That engine is going to do fine on all BMW approved oils, but if you drive it hard I would go as thick as allowed for warranty purposes, which means LL01FE.
After warranty switch to LL01 or LL04.

The spec is what matters. If the Kirkland meets the spec your car needs I would use it no problem. It does not meet the spec for the OP.
