I'm looking for a good, American made filter wrench. The cap style. I went to NAPA but they did not have one to fit the Purolator filter I use on a Jeep Liberty (20195). I'll try another NAPA just to make sure. The ones Advance Auto and Auto Zone carries are made off shore. Sorry, I'm not going to buy one. I've been looking on the net but can't tell which one would fit the filter, which is another problem.

I haven't seen too many at the Great Wal of China Mart. I do remember seeing an orange one that was a 'one size fits all'. I'll have to check back again.

I have a craftsman with three prongs. works gread on overly tightened filters as long as there is room at the end of the filter.

I use my 16'' Channellocks for oil filters. Overkill, but also useful for 1,000 other things. Mine say made in Meadville, PA. Too bad I had them for 20 years before I thought to use them on oil filters.

I saw the three prong one from Sears. That would probably work. I was concerned about crushing the can. Channellocks are out due to space.

Myself have problem turning the filter 3/4 turn with my oily hands - most I can do is 1/2. I refuse to use FRAM Sure Grip - so a wrench is warranted on install.

I like our cup filter wrenches. They're solid and work great in tight spaces. But I can't say that I blame anyone for wanting to buy domestic. I draw the line when I have to go way out of my way to do so.

why worry of crushing , its only used to remove it.

I have the same problem as Jonny Z. At least with the Jeep Liberty. Using hands only, I can only get about 1/2 turn. I have to be like Stretch Armstrong to get to the filter!
