Trying to use nmap.online to scan my router and what can be determined.

I always get no response when I put in my external IP address. I’m doing the web based fast scan at nmap.online

I’ve whitelisted their servers in my firewall. I’ve used their external ping setting. Can’t get any response.

Does that mean my router is secure, or (more likely) I’m doing something wrong?

I think if you want nmap.online to show an affirmative response to something you need to run a server of something and have your router forward an external socket request to an internal server and socket.

You may get more utility from the basic GRC shieldsUp! tests at grc.com

Were you just trying to do a port scan or?

somehow I happened upon it when reading more about security. Yes, essentially my impression was that if I put in my IP address, it would tell me what exposure (for lack of better terms) was apparent to the outside.

I’ll look into grc. Thanks!
