My owners manual has two oils Jeep recommends for the EcoDiesel. Mopar 68231020AA 5w-40 or Pennzoil Platinum European 5w-40. I couldn’t find any info on these oils. Seems like Jeep is worried about the Sulfated Ash for the DPF. I found a few other oils people on here are recommending.
Motul 8100 x clean 5w-40. (Sulfated Ash 0.98)
Ravenol VST 5w-40. (Sulfated Ash 1.05)
Amsoil Signatures Series Max Diesel Oil
(Sulfated Ash 0.99)
Shell Rotella T 6 5w-40 (Sulfated Ash (1.0)
Schaeffer 9000 Synshield OTR Plus
5w-40 (Sulfated Ash 0.98)

I couldn’t find the Sulfated Ash on the Mopar or the Pennzoil. I really want to use the Schaeffer 9000
But I don’t want to void my warranty. Any help would be great

Manual recommends 5w-40. Here are the specs from Schaeffer oil. Not an expert but it seems Dodge /Chrysler must have some kind of deal with Pennzoil. I have used Schaeffer oil for long time.

Here is an updated list of oils for you. Personally I would just stay with what is recommend and use the Pennzoil Euro while your under warranty.
The new 3rd gen (2020+) EcoDiesel has different specs than the 2nd generation (2014 - 2019) engine. The following oils have been known to meet the new MS-12991 and API SN Certification/Standard/Approval.

Mopar 68231020AA 5W-40
Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5W-40
Valvoline European Vehicle 5W-40
Quaker State Ultimate Durability EURO 5W-40
Havoline ProDS 5W-40
Amsoil European Car Formula 5W-40 Classic ESP Synthetic (EFM)
Redline Full Synthetic 5W-40
Motul 8100 X-clean 5W-40
Liqui Moly Leichtlauf High Tech 5W-40
TRIAX Euro LX 5W-40
TRIAX Euro Ultra VX 5W-40
Ravenol VST 5W-40
Total Quartz 9000 5W-40

Are any one of these better than the other like Amsoil or Redline or Motul. I’ve used Amsoil before.

is this the 2020 model? In the oil information for the 2018 models they recommended Rotella T6. FCA MS-10902, API CJ-4.

Did they change their oil recommendations for the new models?

Did they change specs to the older 2nd gen. engines too?

My father had an engine fail due to spun bearings I think, with 32000 kilometers.

Those that are approved are not necissairly better, but manufacturer said they are good for that engine.
Redline is not approved (performance series) and except Redline claims, you really do not know. Amsoil has some approved oils.
Again, the key question is: if oil is better than those approved, why oil manufacturer did not send oil for approval?

And don’t think I’d get Redline until I made sure it’s not shipped in a Kendall bottle 👀
