I was on the Walmart (.com) website looking at oil and noticed that some of SuperTech's jugs (5 qts) have changed. They used to look like the Peak jugs and my understanding is that they were made by Warren.

The new ones look like Canadian Tire jugs and my understanding is that Shell supplies Canadian Tire with their house brand oil. Here are two links to illustrate this.

Is Shell now supplying SuperTech?

Sorry if this has already been discussed ... I didn't find anything when searching

Walmart always buy local first ,so if a city or area as a supplier large enough ,Walmart will buy from the local then important what they miss!

Given that Walmart is so huge and can have it made to any spec they want who really care what company blended it? If I were them I would have more than one supplier. Refinery fires do happen. Maybe just the company that supplies the plastic jugs to be filled has changed?

Supertech states, in Cupplier varies in the States, in Canada it's now called "TuneIt! by supertech" and the conventional is sourced from Safety-Kleen, while the synthetic is Petro Canada Supreme Synthetic.

But in the past, Walmart has not specified any "special blend" from Warren.

Look at the VOA's of Super Tech, Peak, and a handful of Warren supplied house brands and you'll see the same Warren oil.

$17.47 is definitely a great price for 5 qts of full synthetic oil. Was the bottle the same shape as the one of the website?

Not sure what the lettering means ... I don't think it says anything about being made by Shell on the Canadian Tire bottles

No, that's just from Canadian Tire's MSDS database. As for what might be in Merk's bottles from the States, I imagine it's difficult to tell. Bottle shape certainly doesn't tell the whole story, since Canadian Tire bottles aren't like the current SOPUS bottles.

................ that stuff is smooth.

And I was especially surprised at how thick it is for a 10W-30.

Well, if you like how smooth it is, that's good. How did the price compare to other synthetics in your location? ST synthetic up here is so new, I don't even know what to expect with its pricing versus other stuff on sale.

I bet I can find a 0w-30 or 5w30 way thicker than what you're running, Merk.
