Hi there,
I just had my first oil analysis done by Blackstone on my '98 Dodge Cummins 12-valve with 160k miles. At 150k I switched from Rotella 15w40 to Rotella Synthetic 5w-40 and ran it 10k miles. At 155k I replaced the Stratapore oil fiter and added a quart of makeup oil, plus one more quart of makeup during the 10k mile interval.
The UOA results appear to be pretty good, so I'm wondering if I could safely skip the 5k filter change. Am I throwing away a perfectly good filter and my money by changing the filter halfway? I'm tempted to just run it 10k and change both oil & filter on that interval.
Thanks in advance for any info!
