Did she add the lights or did you?

The oil fill hole doesn't look bad considering the car's PO and history. A 15w40 diet should be all the car needs.

The coolant on the other hand, I would do a citrus flush and add a long life coolant of your choice.

Afaik they are original fitment, or maybe fitted by the dealer when it was new, in Europe during the 70s and 80s it was common for Ford ddealers to install all sorts of accessories to new cars from Foglights to dixie horns.

Not sure about Dixie Horns!

But every mk3/4 XR3i of that time had front spots that I can remember.

Same went for the mk1/2 XR2 and mk3 XR3.

Difficult to find these in good unmolested condition.

For coolant, do the Mercedes citric acid flush. Fill it back up with G-05 or G-48, while Ford is using Dex-Cool now to be common between the US and Europe, I wouldn't risk higher doses of 2-EHA on an older car.

I'm probably going to feed it Shell Rimula R4X 15W-40 HDEO, 1250ppm of zddp and it meets SL.
I plan on only using green glycol coolant in it, but first flushing it with straight water until i see it comes out clear from the engine and then putting i fresh coolant.

Pretty little girl you have there!

In the head doesn't look bad at all; oil change and a bit of (harder) highway driving should clean what little there is right out.

Wait a minute, weren't you the guy that wanted his oil so thick, it'd be in a solid form?

Why are you straying away from the 20w50 all of the sudden?

Yeah it was me but i changed my mind

Your Escort looks like a small version of a 92 Mustang that I had, would you agree? Your car really looks sharp!

Yeah i guess it does.

Alright i changed the coolant out yesterday and flushed it out with a few gallons of just regular tap water, and re-filled with 20% premixed green glycol coolant.
For the engine i bought Shell Rimula R4X 15W-40 HDEO ( API SL and CI-4, ACEA E7 etc. )
I'm going to be putting around 6-700Kms a month on this car so we'll see how it responds, i plan on changing it again ( oil ) in November when i'm out of work, by then i should have put around 6000 Kms on it.
