I guess I better leave the AC off when anyone else is in the car.

Maybe it's a common problem. My aunt had a 13' Beetle and when it was nearly new the A/C smelled gross. They recommended turning the A/C off a mile before home to "flush" it. What?

I do this with my AC equipped vehicles. It helps to clear out the water from the AC system that condenses but hasn't drained out. Turn off AC but leave the blower going to help remove the leftover water.

Where do you refill the magic flush fluid?

It lets the moisture drain out without creating new moisture so it doesn't sit in it and grow things. I've always tried to do this on my cars. When I near my location, flip the AC off for the last couple few blocks. Maybe it's fake, but I recall reading something about it years ago.

I understand the concept of letting it dry, I’m just saying the dealer was kinda scammy, he was saying it “flushes”.

But we don’t have humidity here, it’s the only car we’ve ever been around with smelly A/C, that car reeked.

Technically, it is correct. Air with less moisture flushes out the air with more moisture. ;)

Horrible spelling effort.
Yeah, my dealer wrote up my 2014 E350 tires as having "Featuring"!
(Feathering)
My only concern is, are there any corporate people working in a cubicle somewhere that categorizes all the issues that a certain model may have?

The solution there would be force the service writers/advisors to select the "issue" from pre-defined lists. Yes, it would be a big list and yes, you'd still need to have the option for "manual" entry of a non-listed issue.

It's true about turning the AC off for a few minutes before turning the car off. LET THE BLOWER FAN STAY ON HIGH AND MAKE SURE THAT THE RECIRCULATE IS TURNED OFF!

This allows fresh air in to dry out the condenser unit and drain tube dryer means no moisture to let microbes grow.
