I currently run PP 5w-20 SN in my 3.3L Hyundai engine and the loudest sound you hear under the hood are the fuel injectors clicking. . . .reminiscent of a sewing machine. . . .I've run QSUD 5w-20 also and I notice not difference between them--both good choices for Hyundais.

I would give the QSUD or PP 5w20 a shot.

Are you staying with the dealer service? Personally I think I would probably give the Toyota 0w20 a try in it but I guess you really can't hand that to the service department.

Did you contact Hyundai about the 0w20 or was that from the dealership?

Dealer service yes, and I did contact the Head office and the dealer both said no the lightest I can use is 5W20.

Interesting.

Hyundai finally responded to my email, apparently the manual states 10w30 from -15 to 50 Celsius and 5w20 or 5w30 below -15C. I guess they are not buying into the high VI theory!

A 0W-20 is no lighter than a 5W-20 at operating temp's just on start-up.
Hyundai Canada will not officially give the okay to running the superior synthetic 0W-20 grade although fellow Canadian member who pursued the matter sort of got the okay to do so in the following thread:

Mobil is on record saying that the use of their 0W-20 in any 5W-20 application will not void any manufacturer's warranty. And XOM is a lot larger than Hyundai as big as they are.

My advice is, if you want to run a 0W-20 then just do it. Just makes sure you at least follow the recommended OCIs if not shorter intervals and keep good records.

As cp3 suggested, the Toyota 0W-20 is the most fuel efficient oil available if you want to try it.
If you decide to stick with the 5W-20 grade, the lightest available is likely PP SN 5W-20 with it's 169 VI.
