Mos2 in a Honda Scooter

Out of curiosity, I added Lubro-Moly to my 2009 Honda Ruckus scooter (appropriate sized dose, of course) for testing purposes. It does not have a wet clutch, so no worries there.

Within the initial 100-miles, there wasn't much change and nothing to report.

By the time i'd gone 170-200 miles, the effect was quite noticable.

Coasting (engine braking) was much smoother, and it would coast about 1/3 farther than it ever did in the past. Idle was smoother and the engine was a little quieter as well.

Even in performance, the scooter felt lighter, and seemed to climb hills a little better (not as much of a speed loss).

Obviously less friction so the Moly was doing simething.

The biggest suprise was a gas mileage increase of about 10%.

I always run Mobil 1 0w30 AFE in this scooter, since it's liquid cooled + forced air. With the radiator/thermostat, heat buildup is not a problem and I can get away with a 30-wt.

Overall a complete success, and I will add maintenance doses to maintain the plating as needed further down the road.

Now I have to consider adding the appropriate Moly additive to the gearbox.

I was thinking of adding a dose of Mos2 in my scooter oil to see if there are any improvments. Maybe next oil change, i'll give it a shot and report back. Is it OK to add Mos2 with the 80w-90 gear oil?

You were smart to check if it was a wet clutch!
So should others!

But Lubro Moly is great, isn't it?
You may notice a bit more power, too.

Sorry for the delay in updating this thread. It's now been 1,000 miles since the MoS2 was added and I just performed an OC with a maintenance dose in the new oil.

Still very happy and the results are definately still noticable. Even comparing with buddies who have the same scooter, gas mileage is better and coasting (engine braking) is much more pronounced than theirs - all of our scooters are 100% stock too.

I see no need to worry about this additive and I will continue to use it in my vehicles. Seeing the results, several of my friends are starting to use Lubro-Moly in their vehicles too.

Yes, that's the one. Sorry, I should've been more specific.

Id wait atleast 500 miles to make sure its all broken in. I know my Triumph breakin in was 500 miles, and even out to 1000 miles the manual says to not beat on it too hard.
