For the last oil change on the 06 sport, I tried Mobil 1 5w20. All previous oil changes were with MC 5w20 synthetic blend. I noticed 2 things: 1) M1 appeared cloudy out of the bottle. 2) After 3K miles, it is darker than with the MC. Is this normal?

BTW, I am going back to MC next change and will probably try 5w30. I am experimenting to see what affects the engine noise. The 03 Sport is quieter than the 06 and has always had MC 5w30. I'm just trying to get the 06 to sound like the 03. The noise difference is in the valve train. I much prefer NO NOISE (other than exhaust) which I will probably never attain!!!

It means oil is doing its job.

The opposite is true for my Sienna. I recently switched to Schaeffers 7000 (blend) after a six year run strictly on M1. The M1 was very smooth, very quiet. The Schaeffers blend is noticeably louder at WOT (ie, going up hills, entrance ramps, etc). Another difference - I've got close to 2k on the blend - it is already as dark as the M1 would be at close to 5k. (Note, I did a Neutra 131 cleaning run before adding this Schaeffers - so that may have something to do with the color of the oil (??)) I'll probably be putting this M1 vs. Schaeffers report in it's own thread - but thought I'd chime in here since it's related to the thread.
