There's finally an extended filter for my truck. For more information & pics, go here. http://www.tundrasolutions.com/forums/tundra/184679-mobil-1-engine-oil-filter-5-a/

I'm torn between what filter i should choose now. Should i spent the $20 for the mobil one, $9 for the TRD, or stick with OEM for $4?

I run yearly OCI's & 10k miles currently running Amsoil ASL and OEM filter. My second UOA will be coming soon, with more to follow. I could get an annual UOA comparison going between them all i guess.

Which one would be the best to use?

What does TRD stand for?

That's kind of the direction i'm leaning for the next change. It's supposed to be something like 90% efficient at 20 microns or so.

But....will it be sufficient for one annual change & 10k miles? Mostly towing miles i might ad?

That's what i thought; pretty pricey.

And it looks like OEM other than the HD rubber O-rings. He says the pleats are really deep and more sturdy though.

To me it looks too restrictive.

I just looked up your UOA, and it looks like you trust it for extended intervals.

I assume it was only one filter change?

Good to know!! I think i'll go with the TRD instead of spending the extra $ on the Mobil one.

Thanks

In your pretty new vehicle with full synthetic oil, the answer is yes, it will do a 10K/1 year OCI easily.

How you been busa? Haven't heard any wise cracks out of you for a long time; where you been keeping yourself?

I have no idea. At least we have a couple more options for higher end filters now. About time.

I'd like to get the M-1 just for the screw on drain vs. the push in. The push in always leaked on me, so i never use it. You'd think the screw on would be better?

What?

what other forums?

I've used a boat load of M1 filters, but i ain't paying $20 for a filter. I have used the Pure 1 cartridge in my Fusion.

Thanks for the links. I enjoyed the read on the takeover by mr. Toyoda. Looks like Watanabe has really screwed up, from what they're saying. High testosterone and the idea of ' taking over ' GM's spot got the best of him. Well, good to see he's gone now and things can slowly get back to normal.

Guess this goes to show that companies who want to take over the industry and flex their muscle's, could lead to a slow and painful death. Sticking to what's worked in the past, is the best way to go. I mean, why fix it if it ain't broke?

Well, it's kind of broke right now for toyota but it's good to see the weak link has been removed.
Now they can work on the fix, and get things back to normal.
