Mix 1/3 Rotella and 3 qts Shell

I have a Astro work van with the 4.3 that needs an oil change so I looked at what I have. I came up with 1 1/2 qts of Shell Rotella Syn 5w40 and 3 qts of Shell Formula 10w30 dino for a total of 4 1/2 qts of oil which is what my van takes for a change. The last oil change I put in the Maxlife 10w30 Syn mixture and haven't noticed anything other than a increase in oil pressure. Would there be anything wrong with that change? I only do 3000 OCI. I look forward to your replies before I change.

From you title to your explanation not sure which direction you are asking but either way would probably be fine.

Should be fine. I doubt your Astro van is very picky about oil.

Sounds like you made your own homemade syn blend.
Shouldnt have any problems at all...

4.3 engines are basically a 350 Chevy with 6 cylinders, should be fine with ANYTHING.

Where do you live? Could he have any issues with cold weather and usign a high weight oil?

I will be doing similar in my 1999 4.3 H.O. next fall. It will be a 1/3rd blend of Pennzoil Platinum 5W-40 and 2/3rds Quaker State Synthetic 5w30. The full mark on my oil dipstick is with 4-3/4 quarts. I've noticed my owners manual says to use 4-1/2 quarts - but that doesn't line-up with the dipstick measurement.

Yea I know it didn't look right after I looked at it after I posted but what I meant to type was 1 1/2 qts of Shell Rotella T synthetic 5w40 and 3 qts Shell Formula 10w30. I was basically going to make a syn blend of what I had in the garage and wanted to know if anyone saw a problem with mixing those 2. I don't feel as there would be a problem mixing them but you never know. Thanks for replying to my post.
