Probably one of the biggest reasons some type of active engine temperature management will become more common in the design of motorcycle engines is that such systems aid in reducing undesirable emissions. And the regulations governing emissions from all types of internal combustion engines continue to be more demanding as years go by, including future requirements that are even more demanding than present emissions restrictions.
Also, automatic transmissions, or something similar to an automatic such as CVT, or Hondas DCT probably will also become more common as they provide more MPGs, and lower emissions. Probably the only way to get the anti pollutions groups totally off the backs of motorcycle riders will be something like an electric bike, or something with a fuel cell powering an electric motor.
And don't jump all over me for mentioning it, but this all assumes that motorcycles will still be allowed when all vehicles on public roads are autonomous. Don't laugh, motorcycles are not allowed on public roads in Germany, and if one democratic country can outlaw motorcycles on public roads, it may be possible in others.
