There seems to be some confusion. A land is not a groove. Rings don't go into lands.

Who are you saying is confused? The pic labels look right to me.
Some BITOG members talk about their rings sticking because the lands pack up with gunk. However, rings stick because the grooves fill up with gunk. Lands get coated with carbon, they don't fill or pack up.

Edit: so this is just a word police type of thing?

Maybe take on clearance vs tolerance next.
