So i was just looking around today for a car and caved on a 2015 malibu with 15 miles. Picking it up tomorrow after work and wanted oil choices and OCI suggestions i got 2 yrs 24k on oil changes at the dealer. Or go a diff route on oil

Run the oil for at least 1k miles, get your free oil change and then go pennzoil platinum/ultra 5w30. Just run synthetic by 10k miles and rest easy.

Actually it says 5w20 dexos on the cap...

I have the same engine, right now I'm on free oil changes - my dealer changes it at 20%. After the freebies are done I think I am going to go SuperTech Syn (supposedly now Dexos approved) with a Wix filter.

20% has averaged 5500 miles on the OLM so I'll probably stick to that.

2013 ATS, only 14k miles. Nothing exciting to report...I like the 2.5, I've found it to be smooth and quiet. I like it a lot.

I wonder why they specify 5W-20 for the Malibu and then specify 0W-20 for the Silverado. . .

Which Silverado comes with a 2.5 liter, 4 cylinder engine?

My guess is truck MPG is a huge competition right now,

Thin oil in a truck would be more mpg than thin oil in the car

I'd take my 24k of free oil then use whatever 5w20 Dexos you want. I opt for the cheapest which happens to be QS Synthetic blend. I'm pretty sure that any flavor of Dexos can also be found in a 5w-20.

Nice Car!!! I'm looking at them too right now, I have the brochure with me as I write. I think the ones we get here are very similar to yours. All part of the GM global car concept.

We get the 2.4-litre petrol engine that comes from the GM plant in Bupyeong, South Korea, while the 2.0-litre turbo-diesel is an Opel engine (used in the Insignia) and comes from Kaiserslautern, Germany. You seem to get a slightly bigger engIne, we also get a slightly different suspension tune.

I like the petrol engine and I would run valvoline SynPower DX1 5W30 that's rated API SN/CF, GF-5, GM DEXOS 1, Ford WSS M2C946A & M2C929A, MS-6395 etc

Did you get the LED tail lights? Makes it look a bit like a camaro from behind.

Did you get deep discount for it ?

The completely restyled 2016 Malibu is longer and 300 lbs lighter, with more interior space and improved fuel efficiency. I like this redesign 2016 body.

Don't hold me 2 it but i think it was 18k before interest after trading in the impala and down payment. I owed more then the impala was worth.
