Several other folks have also suggested longer than 2,500 miles for the cleaning phase. I will try to do this, but the car doesn't get driven for many highway miles. At this rate, the change of seasons will nudge me in the late fall for an oil change to 5w30. 10w30 Supertech with a Supertech filter is in there now. I will hold out as long as I can and drive the car as much as I can.

I'm about 430 miles into the cleaning phase. I have noticed a reduction in oil consumption, but I cannot assume that the dipstick "graduations" are really linear in terms of what is actually in the oil pan. As to the dipstick, I estimate that .2777+ between the "add" and "full" has been used. The difference between the two is one quart.

I made this estimation by measuring the actual distance between the "add" amd "full" lines. It appears to be (about) 18mm. It is down about 5mm. This would make the linear consumption to be about (as much as) 1,523 miles per quart. My original consumption was about 600+ miles per quart of 5w30. I improved it to 1000+ miles per quart of 10w30 dino Valvoline Maxlife.

12oz of the 5 quart capacity of sump and oil filter is ARX and not oil from my recent oil change. The oil/filter/ARX change went very, very close to the "full" line. So whatever has changed is not just regular oil consumption. I have to concede that this appears to be an improvement.

The oil on the dipstick is not clear, but a light brown. The oil is not at all "black".

Thanks!
