Nuclear is pretty much the only way to go for them, as well as hydrogen generated as a by product (that's why they are the only one in the world going hydrogen fuel cell).


Disagree, here in the states. Oil is available is massive quantities. The fact that it's "off limits" artificially creates a need for importation.
 
My personal belief is that we ought to be able to create an international convention to use the Abyssal Plain (N Pacific) to dispose of solidified and containerized nuclear waste. Make it dense and it will bury itself into the soft muds. It will take millions of years for plate tectonics to move it anywhere near land and it would have about 8,000 feet of cooling water overhead ...

It's about the emptiest place on the planet. Assign each country with Nukes 20 square miles in alternate grid blocks and let the IAEA monitor drops and disposal.

How hard can this be?
