I will do an oil change for 2006 Volvo V70 2.4L 5-cyl engine soon. Looking to buy few cartridge oil filters for it.

The 2 popular websites Amazon and Rockauto have much different price for some popular filters: Mahle, Mann, Fram, Wix ...

The first price is Amazon, second price is Rockauto.

Mahle OX149D: $8.26 - $4.33
Mann HU819X: $6.66 - $4.77
Fram CH8712: $8.97 - $9.62
Wix 57021: $11.64 - $8.52

If someone have Amazon Prime account with 2 days free shipping, the total cost of 4 filters are(we pay 8% sale tax in California): Mahle OX149D: $35.68, Mann HU819X: $27.76, Fram CH8712: $38.76, Wix 57021: $50.28

Rockauto price for 4 with USPS Priority Mail and no sale tax:
Mahle OX149D: $23.96, Mann HU819X: $28.0, Fram CH8712: $43.63, Wix 57021: $40.72

Mahle cartridge oil filter is as good as Mann and other German filters, and likely better quality than Fram Extra Guard and Wix. At $6/ea shipped from Rockauto, Mahle OX149D is probably the best buy.

If someone like Mann better, then Amazon and Rockauto has similar price for 4 at $7/ea. The only catch is you need Amazon Prime account to get free 2 days shipping, or buy 6 filters at once.

I didn't try other websites such as Pelicanparts.com, Rmeuropean.com and Koperformance.com. They seem to have German filters at reasonable price.

If you own a Volvo, you should get to know IPD.

www.ipdusa.com

They sell a lot of hard to find/specialty parts for much less than a dealer. Further, they sell filters in a 10 pack for $45 or so, wait for a free shipping promotion, and you're in there... I am about to buy my 3rd pack of those...with 2 Volvos, I rack up a lot of Volvo oil changes...

No AAP store in California but they have office here so they charge sale tax.

They do ship some stuff with free ground shipping for orders $75 or more. But some parts are not shippable such as battery, oil and many other fluids ...

Mann, Mahle ... cartridge oil filters are much more expensive on AAP website.
