I was on business in Stuttgart last week and had the opportunity to visit the Castrol refinery where GC is made. This was some facility from the street. Brand new high tech R&D center and new office building out front. But I was a bit surprised when I was taken out back and saw about 400 Mexicans filling GC bottles out of a Mobil1 tanker truck. When I asked what they were doing 20 of the workers threw a giant tarp over the Mobil 1 insignia on the tanker...I looked down the back entrance road and there were about 30 maybe 40 Mobil1 trucks parked waiting to unload. Well I went back inside and asked if thet actually refined any oil there or simply re-packaged oil and my guide tore the visitor badge off my coat and called a "stupid Ameriken dumkoff" and led me out to a waiting taxi which drove me off the grounds.....later I found out that my camera was missing....I just thought you guys would like to know that your probably really using Mobil-1.....

Sheesh kebab!!! That is a shocker of note...more like German domkoff's @ their stupidity to allow a tour of their facility while they are doing a "re-branding exercise".

The big question now is; will GC soon be GRP3 thanks to Mobil’s change?

When I went to Castrol's plant here in SA to collect some SLX...the staff were "bottling" some Magnatec out of 44gallon drums, which is all very good and well...problem was they were doing it outside on the driveway with a stiff wind blowing and all the containers were open...can only imagine how much sand got into the oil

Die Elfe werden nicht durch Ihre lustige kleine Geschichte unterhalten. Sie dumme Amerikaner und Ihre Witze, BAH!

So that's where the Mobil 1 is going!

Last time I was at Wily World, I noticed a tractor trailer set up behind the store. I peeked in and I saw a bunch of guys in white lab coats opening up cases of house brand oil and filling up empty bottles of 'synthetic' and sealing them and filling up new cardboard cases.

At first I was upset, but then one of the workers pulled me aside and explained how easy it is to post record profits if they can shut down the exploration, drilling, refining operations and simply repackage and market.

Instead of scientists and engineers, they now need some race car drivers and teams, only a handful of lawyers and advertising wizards who work on new ways to say 'synthetic' , 'new and improved', and doing liason work with the auto manufacturers to generate new specs so that the labels can claim to meet these new specs.

When they told me that in the future they planned to install pipelines from every Quick Lube waste oil tank directly to regional bottling plants...I realized these guys were on to something big.

I nearly bought the stock, until an insider at a major competitor disclosed their plans to simply leave the old oil in the engine and focus all their energy on exciting 'synthetic oil' underhood and windshield oil change reminders. This will be coupled with an nationwide rollout of a new extended warranty insurance program as people realize that the newer engines aren't as reliable as the older engines. The program will be called: 'You can never be too safe' !

This will be a winning combo folks!

Update:

They just faxed me the proofs of the new decals!

The first theme is called ' Synthetic Oil is Dope' and will feature a major rap star and will be tied in to a major car modification/ restoration/ and modification show.

Since they have shut down all oil production they told me how lucky they were to have stashed away enough old fashioned synthetic oil to support their race teams and show cars.

Their prelimary studies in test markets have shown that the combination of succesful race car results, wild custom show cars being built on the TV show, and a well researched legal strategy to void warranties by blaming the driver for modifying their vehicles in any way will succeed.

Apparently, modern vehicles are so complex that even using the wrong floor mat, air freshener, or tire valve cap can cause catastrophic failure...and will most certainly void the warranty [ as proven by a test case taken to the Supreme Court earlier this year ].

So remember:

'Synthetic Oil is Dope!' And, 'You can nver be too safe!'

This is the future of car care!

I would think if you were going to go through the effort of this unfunny fable, you'd at least try to get the German wording correct. For instance, it's "Kopf," not "koff" and you would be an "Ami," not an "Ameriken."

As for the "stupid" part, I'll leave that open for interpretation.

BTW: Those weren't "Mexicans," they were Turks.

GC 0w30 looks very different from Mobil 5w30 - out of the bottle. GC 0w30 gold even has a little bit of a green tint with the right lighting - haven't seen that with mobil 5w30.

This better be a joke :P. lol.

Everything is possible. Somewhere between 1993 and 1996 some Castrol oils were produced at Esso facility in Hamburg. But at the same time one of Mobil motor oils for Europe was manufactured by Shell. Now Wolf Oil in Belgium is manufacturing/blending oils for different companies and some of these oils are supplied to OEMs. In one word - globalization.

Well......as for the green color? About half of the workers in the back were drinking green beer and well you know filling some bottles on their own...

Must be some Irish Mexicans over there.....

I notice the green tint as well with my GC gold stash...gives me a warm-n-fuzzy.

But anywho, this GC/M1 story is a blast...in lieu of actual entertainment.

Dude, there no Mexicans. Most likely Turkish or Ruminian folks. Unlike here, you won’t be able to get any job (I mean even public toilet cleaning) unless your communication skills above the average level.
