Interested in what's best in the $400-$600 range, as well as $300-$400.

Covid-19 seems to have very much hindered the availability of these and some other bikes.

I have a Trek 7.2FX bought new in 2015. It has performed flawlessly although I only ride about 800-900 miles a year. I can easily go out for a 40-50 mile ride and be very comfortable. Bike now has 4500 miles on it with absolutely no problems. I paid about $500.00 from a local bike shop and if I had to do it again, I would buy the same bike. I would stay away from big box stores just for the service aspect plus I like to support small business when ever possible.
