HPL Differential Life Cold Climate

When i go to swap out my trucks diff oil. Is there any reason not to use cold climate? Other than a few dollars? Its not that cold in NC.

Looking at the 75w90( spec'd in my owners manual) or 75w110 considering that i tow.

Absolutely not. It will work extremely well. This series of oil has a great track record literally. It routinely runs 300F in circles at 200 mph on the weekends

How do the gears and bearings look after running 500 miles at those speeds and with those temperatures?

Unfortunately the X-Tracs are sealed and you don’t get to look at the parts. The sample data is pretty good. Typically 40-70 ppm iron.

Well, you’d still likely be safer with the HPL DL CC, as it has a -87*F pour point and a 35k cP Brookfield test result at -40*C, which is amazingly good due to the high amount of PAO. At -60F, unless you’ve got the HPL or Amsoil, you’re almost certainly experiencing channeling rather than proper lubrication.

Dunno, we go through maybe 10k gallons a year so not a whole lot. It's one of the lesser used products.

We don't deal with boutique oils. No outfits i know do.
