How to get sediment out of heater oil tank?

So boats with diesel engines can get the fuel polished. Seems to me you could do it yourself with a pump and filter.

Or hire someone.

But check the water level first with a stick and paste. Pump and dump the water. Then polish.

I have heard stories about the crud in the bottom of the tanks causing lots of problems. Never had it happen to me however.

I have a heat pump in my retirement home.

I have run my tank dry twice. No crud in lines just air to bleed out.
