How many TV channels do you have? How many do you watch?

We use a $40 RCA antenna mounted probably 18 feet off the ground for OTA DTV. We get a total of 28 channels (9 main channels with 19 sub channels). I like to watch just a hand full of channels, Grit TV, MeTV and PBS.

We used to pay $100+ per month for Comcast cable and due to repeated price increases we cut the cable 4 1/2 years ago. We haven't missed cable one bit. We paid so much for hundreds of channels and still ended up watching our local channels. Our local library has an absolutely huge selection of DVD's and access to countless libraries via inter library loans. We haven't rented a movie or gone to a movie in years.

Antenna here too, I would never buy cable or satellite to pay for CNN, ESPN, etc. I get around 30 to 40 channels but usually watch MeTV. Cozi, H&I, Justice, GET, Escape, Decades, Quest, Laff and The Movies channel. I get all the networks, and some others like Pursuit, Light, some all westerns channel, 5 or 6 church channels and a bunch more I never watch.

Roughly 130 channels plus Netflix and Amazon TV shows and movies on 2 TV’s. In any given week we probably watch 30 channels consistently, plus several commercial free music channels we listen to on the weekends mostly. About $5 a day. An entertainment bargain in my book but as usual, YMMV.

Built my own antenna 10 yrs ago and never looked back. Mounted on a long board and leaned up against the roof in the attic. 30 or so channels probably watch 15 of those. Lately some of the signals are pixelated and am considering a signal booster. TiVo records stuff throughout the day and night. Netflix and Amazon prime are also cranking out the shows for us. Paying a fraction of what we used to in the Comcast days. Have convinced several people to go this route...minus the diy antenna and everyone always thanks us. Sports are a bit difficult but the local networks are pretty descent at carrying games depending on what you want to watch. Streaming channels are always an option for what games are not locally covered.

I also use an antenna but just super basic rabbit ears. I get 15 channels but usually only watch MeTV and create.

Whatever the Comcast starter package includes. I've weighed cutting the cord. It isn't worth it.

I actually enjoy many shows on cable. If I "cut the cord", I would still need an ISP plus sling, or DirecTV now, or xyz. Comcast wants $60-$80 a month just for internet anyways. Might as well leave the TV on there.

I also have Netflix, Amazon prime, and Hulu. Plus a several hundred disc movie collection. Never a shortage of media in my house.

THIS^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^where ComCast has a monopoly they have rates for their Internet that make cutting the cord not very doable.

Once you break up their "double or triple play" packages-it's just not worth it.

There is only a $50.00 difference between having their TV package and not having it.

I pick up 39 channels from a roof top antenna and actually watch around six of them.

Cut the cord maybe 7 -8 years ago. "Digital" antenna mounted on chimney and pick up 50+ channels in the Atlanta area.
We mainly watch the major networks plus Me TV, Cozy, Grit, and Laff.
We do have a Roku for streaming as well. Went from paying $100.00+ a month to a little over $20.00 for Netflix and Hulu.

I have probably 50 or so with Comcast. watch 5 or 6 regularly. My problem is I will not waste time sitting through 20 minutes of commercials for every hour of show,so everything I watch is DVR'd that makes it necessary to have the cable service.

Probably 20 free to air...lots more if we pay.

Only watch two or three with any regularity, and they are "on", and if they get watched, that's because it's momentary interest.

Have never programmed my life around any TV show...well except for Dr.Who, but these days I couldn't even tell you when that was on.

I have Dish Network at my apartment, and DirecTV at home. Each probably have several hundred channels, and maybe 5 or 6 of them on each service are worth watching. Such a waste....most of the channels air nothing but unwatchable garbage...

That's the problem in most areas. You won't get anything with an antenna. And what you do get looks like you're viewing it through a blizzard. So what's the point of paying for a nice 65" Ultra Hi-Definition flat screen, if you can't watch anything on it you can remotely recognize?

With that said, I think cable and satellite providers in this country provide nothing but organized financial rape. The only thing worse are the "bundles" they sell. (That way everyone in your family gets financially raped... Not just you). You make the call.

I get literally hundreds of channels. 95% of them are garbage, repetitive garbage, opinionated garbage, or all of the above. A dozen or so religious channels. (The painted up blonde bimbo preacher on Daystar who looks like a hooker is a real peach)! The "Coin Collector" is another favorite. The guy is always screaming that he has coins they haven't had in the last 6 years, and they're going FAST! (They have that cute little counter at the bottom of the screen you see spinning around to convince you to pick up the phone NOW!).... Then you see the same coins for sale next week 20% cheaper. And don't forget the Knife Channel, for the people who get up at 2:00 AM to buy, "Authentic Japanese Samurai Swords", for only $34.00 if you act NOW. Then there are at least a half dozen other home shopping channels. Then the 8 or 10 Spanish channels that are worthless to me.

In all honesty there are about 10 or so that I scan through, that's it. And most of them used to be really good, but have gone into the sewer as well. The History Channel was great. One of my favorites a few years ago. (Remember all of those great episodes of, "Tales Of The Gun"?) But it has magically materialized into the Pawn Star / Swamp People Rerun Network. (I'll bet if you turn it on now, ol' Troy is having a hard time with that 12 footer!) The Weather Channel is now the Highway Through He!! / "Real Time" Tornado Destruction From 7 Years Ago Channel.

I won't even get into the 24/7 "news" channels. Since the election they've descended into nothing but political bashing, and opinionated nonsense. They've gotten to the point they can politicize a plane crash. I keep hearing how cable television is on the way out. For me it can't happen fast enough. I keep hearing how the Internet is going to, "take over television". I say bring it on. The sooner these cable company's go bankrupt, the better off we'll all be.
