So this is our 2018 F250 6.2L at work that I'm driving this week. Doesn't leave the plant site really, gets up to 80km/h couple times a day going from the plant to camp. Basically -20 or colder days of winter and hot days of summer it pretty much just idles all day long, heat or AC. Still starts and runs like new, doesn't burn any oil. Has lived it's life on a diet of whatever semi synthetic the mechanic was buying in bulk getting changed when the OLM says so. Works out to 492 days worth of 12 hour shifts of idle time lol

Wow - that's a lot of idle time. Approximately 75% of total engine run time.

My personal 6.2L SD is also a 2018, and I don't have nearly as many idle hours. But that engine is a stalwart, generally, as long as the maintenance is kept up.

One thing to not ignore, and perhaps actually over-maintain, is the plugs; 16 of them. Book says every 100k miles, but if a plug goes bad it can cause poor ignition and misfires, which can cause unburnt fuel to get into the cat and ruin it. Most folks who are smart will change before 75k miles; plugs are far cheaper than a new cat.
