I have for your amusement a cut open Hengst H14W32 (Made in Turkey) oil filter. Was in service for 4K miles in my wife's 2022 Bronco Sport with the 1.5L 3cyl Ecoboost engine. Oil used was Quaker State Full Synthetic 5W-30.

Nothing notable and seem to did the job fine. Usual excellent quality Hengst construction with nice even pleat spacing with a 55 pleat count. Nitrile (verified with burn test) ADBV was still soft and pliable. No efficiency data as usual with Hengst but they are assumed to be OEM spec minimum rock catchers.

Replaced with a Donaldson P551132 oil filter and Mobil Full Synthetic 5W-30.

Looks good! Thanks for the C&P, I've been debating trying these out for awhile.
It is a great filter in terms of construction. Way overbuilt and has some heft to it. Getting decent pricing though makes the value proposition somewhat questionable. I picked up a couple when Amazon had them for $5.05 last year but that has been hard to replicate of late.

Yeah, I see them from time to time on sale at various places. I know FCP Euro offers Hengst. I've also seen NAPA have Hengst filters on sale and at affordable prices. The one you posted they have for a little over $8. Now, the issues with NAPA is, some say order to store and others say call store for availability. It's a toss up 🤷‍♂️.

Thanks for the C&P! Looks very good.

I have gotten several of the H97W05 (the Fram 7317 Nissan / Honda size) from RockAuto for less than $5 that added to what I was already ordering so no extra freight charge. Too bad there are no filtration specs on them anywhere.

Hengst makes quality oil filters, this another example. Fwiw, I would agree with your assessment of their likely efficiency. Good job burn testing the adbv, was wondering about it. Another following Occam's.

Thanks for c&p.

When the I ran out of Bosch Premium 3323. I bought a case of the Hengst H97W05.

They're very nice.
