I have a 2003 Honda Odyssey and am very puzzled about a noise I am hearing and cannot pinpoint what it is coming from. Any thoughts would be appreciated - I know this is tough to do from just my description.

Noise is a rubbing type noise and usually occurs when turning tight such as on to a side street or pulling out of driveway. Noise seems to come from the passenger side towards the back of the vehicle. Cannot reproduce the sound everytime but tends to happen more when the van has not been driven for awhile. Not sure if this would help but I recently had the following repairs done: 1) Front struts 2)rear brakes 3)Magnefine inline tranny filter 4) four new tires.

Thank you for any thoughts.

Do you change tire with different size ?
If not, it could be just disc brake cover that is not aligned properly due to knocked when did servicing.

My first guess is brakes, considering the fact that this "rubbing" sound occurs mostly after the car sat for a while, so some rust formation is probably the cause.

If the rubbing sound is also present while the car was already driven for a while, it could be an ABS sensor. This happened to my father, his car would make a squeaking sound from the rear only while making a right hand turn. Upon examination we noticed that the ABS sensor was really close to the indicator "gears", also some of the "gears" were slightly polished, meaning that the sensor was rubbing. We bent the sensor back a little and squeaking stopped.

So really you have to jack up the car and examine the wheel, brakes and sensors for yourself.

the inner fender has a plastic piece that is really in the way when changing the oil filter, most people bend it and hook it under another piece of the fender cover, sometimes they pop out and hit the tire while turning hard, also the inner fender and "splash guard" that go under the front clip tend to come loose due to the cheap plastic clips that hold it breaking, turn your wheels hard right and look behind your pass side tire to see if that little plastic "wing" is sticking out. i know this may sound confusing but once you look at it it will make since.
