Halloween

I guess some areas still do it. Most kids here go to parties. The house to house thing is too dangerous

I have fond memories of Halloween when I was young. It was a different world then.

Thought we would not be home as Wife is coming home from a funeral, so I set a big bowl of candy outside. Flight is delayed due to storms in Dallas, so I came home, candy was there, I did not bring it in. Shortly after hearing children outside, checked and the entire bowl is empty. Shame a few children cleaned out the big bowl...

Strong tradition here still of kids walking house to house for candy. Parents carrying wine or beer enjoying the company of adults. My 4 year old girl did roughly 1.5 miles of walking. Nobody drives thankfully.

After the first year I put out a sign "take two". It works for all the escorted kids.
Later in the evening there are gangs of teens that are driven up in vans, and run from house to house with pillow sacks.
Those guys don't read.

I wish i got 100 kids...i got 3...ugh...frustrated to see most ppl not giving out candy. Id bet I was one of the only ones. Sad. I remember how much fun I had when I was young doing it. Now its downright pathetic. Its for the kids and its fun. I believe in doing it. Seems like most ppl go to happening areas now and dont bother giving out any themselves.

I used to love Halloween as a kid. Trick or treating when younger, water balloon battles when older (annual town tradition on one of the streets). LAPD apparently didn't know about it, one year they broke it up with an officer rolling up, yelling "halt" to about 100 people, then firing a warning shot as everybody took off. I assume it was a warning shot.

Had so much fun then, now is payback time. Every kid that comes to our house gets big candy bars.

The best year we had was the 2nd year we were living here. Almost 400 kids. I made a dash to Walmart to buy extra candy because we ran out in the first 1/2 hour.

Just shut down for the night... we had 93 kids, lowest number we've had in 25 years. Usual number is about 125 kids. Our dog drove us nuts though with all his barking. Otherwise was fun, especially since I know quite a few of the kids and most of the parents who came with the wee ones. One of the things I would miss about our small town if we ever moved to a city.

Jarl, serious question: Is there anything that you find enjoyable? Life is short. I truly hope that there is something that brings you a sliver of happiness.

We had close to 100 kiddos tonight (we live in townhouse complex and the single family homes a street over are pretty close together). I put a mini projector in the upper level window that played zombies trying to escape. Was quite the hit. My nieces had well over 5lbs of goodies in 2 hours. Fun stuff.

200+ kids. It's a busy lake community area with safe entry/access. Quite a few get driven in from other parts of the town (or next towns over) and dropped off. Busy night for 2 hrs.

There's a state park north or here with a campground where they did trick or treating last weekend. A lady found an exacto knife blade in a bite sized candy bar and thankfully nobody was hurt. Man, people are just sick.

I see why churches are doing the trunk or treat thing now.

I guess I see the point of the trunk or treat,my wifes church does it.
I find it rather strange though, lets show our kids it's OK to accept candy from strangers in there cars?
