Crapshoot ? This filter held its ground . Using the FRAM XG7317 for the second gen FIT since October (?) . Hope all is well .

Terrible pleat spacing plus high bypass pressure. although it seems like the taller filters are all getting pretty bad haven't there been some pretty bad ph3600s that have been posted in the past several months. In the jobber grade filters, I think I'd only use Champ labs now, the Tough Guard may still be okay in the mid range but I think I'd much rather have a Champ XL or XL Premium Guard, then for the premium full synthetic filters I guess the best choice would be an old style Ultra/Titanium if you can find one or the Synthetic Endurance Fram or Royal Purple or Amsoil.

so ,would the main cause of the tears be from the length of time in service ?
The main cause is too wide of pleat spacing. This EG looks pretty bad in terms of pleat spacing compared to most posted here.

Made on date code is the 106th day of 2021.

Ugly, obviously a Fail. As mentioned, lousy pleat spacing. Skimpy with the media. Who says fiber end cap filters don't tear. So, 1 year to cover, ~6200 miles. Just curious, from when to when? In any case, well within the EG "rating."

Be interesting to see how the Defense DL holds up. And whether Champ Labs or Fram made, jobber 'type equivalent.' Last I saw they are back to Fram made. 'I' might shorten the fci.

Thanks for c&p.

I don't see any tears in the end caps, but the outside edge of the end caps warped a bit in the areas where the the media has the most dP force and resulting media tears. The leaf spring should have still held the center tube seal tight though.

Orange cans earning there nickname. What is the date on this? Is it one of the newest advertising 10k? Not sure if they do that in Canada like they do in the US though.
