Some may remember my new Honda mower I bought last fall and the problems I had with the cutting and bagging. Well, after trying time and time again to get a different blade at Home Depot, I gave up and welded on 2 pieces of metal on the blade, increasing the airflow. I welded on a piece 1/8" thick by 1/2 tall and 3" long on the top edge of the angled part of the blade at an 85 degree angle from horizontal. I smoothed the welds and re-balanced the blade and presto!! It actually sucks up the clippings now and does not leave the usual pile of grass out the left side of the mower back and forth on the yard. What a pain!

Now if I can just get it to idle, i'll be happy! As of last week, when at idle, it surges a few times then dies so I have to leave it running between idle and full to keep it going. Then I see HD has the Zenon deck Honda for sale for only twenty bucks more than I paid for this thing! (sigh!)

Oh well, atleast it cuts, even though it won't stay running.

Crud...now I just found out the darn thing has a recall for defective fuel tanks! LOL Knew I should have bought the $99 Murry from K-Mart! And on top of that, the recall does not say what to do with it or where to take it! Hmmm, wonder if HD will take it back and I can get the plastic deck version and better engine? LOL

I feel sorry for you brother.

I would find a dealer/Honda rep and start bitxhing about it until you get satisfaction out of it, IMHO.

While I have not used any Honda mower before (just Tecumseh or B&S), I still own a 7+ yr old Honda GC160 Be pressure washer that has been serving me right all these years. Absolutely luv that baby I say, so much so that other than my wifey's Camry, the rest of the family have all been converted to Honda stuff (cars, generators, pressure washer).
Take care,

Q.

Yup...the sqeaky wheel will usually get the grease. Write Honda and, like he said, find an authorized dealer and grip. Also ask them for advice on who can help solve your problems. It seems they would look favorably on you since you're talking about staying with Honda and upgrading. As for the blade modification...it's the new Monster Garage!
