And I bought a new (to me) car. I finally am close enough to graduation and have a job lined up so I gave the parents back the Grand Cherokee and bought one of these:

Mike has been helping me with this decision and I love it. This car is awesome! Looks like I'll be back here researching since I have abandoned the Jeep boards!

JHZR2 - I got the automatic. I wasn't willing to switch to a manual with Houston traffic... I'm sure TooManyWheels knows what I'm talking about.

PapaBear - Good to be back on the forum! :beerchug:

TooManyWheels - Fuel Dilution that much of a problem? I'll be making 2 weeks of short trips from my apartment to school... but after that, no short trips. What is your OCI? 3G TL as well? Only quirk was that the drivers side tweeter isn't working but I still have bumper to bumper.

A manual in Houston work day freeway traffic is indeed pretty impractical.

My TL is an '08. It has been making 3 mile trips to/from the Park N' Ride lot, and even with occasional long weekend trips and a well respected 0-20 oil, the oil was used up in 5,000 miles, per Terry. That was with the OEM air filter, which was immediately (approx 10K miles on car) changed out to aftermarket.

I'll keep you in the loop on the next few analyses if you like.

Terry has suggested that Honda/Acura OEM air filters are too restrictive and contribute to the fuel dilution. He normally suggests Fram air filters, but the only brand I could find for an '08 was Wix. It will be at least another 1500-2000 miles until my next analysis so it will be a while before I can see how the Wix is working out.
