After 30,100 miles it was time to change the CAF in the Giulia. While replacing the filter was a complete PITA, I’m glad I got the job done as the stick filter was definitely spent.

Was that filter hard to remove? Looks like it got distorted on install or removal.

Extremely. There’s not enough room to properly remove and install the filter. You have to remove some trim pieces as well as the lower portion of the glovebox trim. One all removed you have to disconnect the HVAC fastener to move the duct out of the way to then gain access to the filter. Next time I think I’m just going to pull out the entire glove box, should provide a more direct shot to the filter.
 
You'd think a dirty filter as shown may shorten the life of a blower motor . Change every 1 > 1+1/2 years . Clean out once or twice a month .
