I spray liberally the whole car (Fiat) with ICE Turtle Wax Clear Spray with UV protectant using maybe 2/3rd's of a spray bottle each time including all the black plastic bits. Car is a dark gray. I buy it at Walmart. Works very well in 110 degree heat and after washing. I don't use a white paste or cream cause it gets stuck on the vinyl decals of the car and then I need an old toothbrush to get it off which is a pain. Been six years now and no burned clear coat or shrunk vinyl stripes!

The best spray wax is Optimum Car Wax. Nothing else comes close to the shine and ease of use.
