The economy is kinda tough atm, I try to save much moneys I can, I think gas is the biggest spend I spend, because I drove the car hard everyday, and I think I spend 15 dollar on gas every 2 day. now I find myself driving less and less, only go work and go home. So total is 15 miles a day, and sunday mabe 5miles. I dont get on highway any more. So my question is, since I driving only 15miles a day, should I still keep 5k miles oil change or change it early like 3k miles ? Im currently using quaker state horse power full synth with K&N oil filter. and I think it been 2 month and its only 1k miles.

And this morning I got up, and going out side, I felt cold, I think since imma change oil early, im running either quaker state greenbottle 5w30 with wix filter. or Pennzoil yb.

Without knowing the year, make, and model of your car here's what I'd do. Find out what the owners manual says for severe service for your vehicle. Otherwise change the oil every 6 months.

With full synthetic you'd still be good for a 5K OCI with that driving style.

Q syn. is a good oil, you could do 5000mi. still if you stick with that. Shoot PYB should be able to do 4K-5K. If you are worried though, get a UOA on the PYB @ 4K go from there, I think you will be fine with the PYB. It is really worth it to do that UOA though. JMHO.

I Have very similar daily drive. I have a F150. Normal OCI is 7500 with severe service is 5000. I change mine every 5000.

Using durablend which I picked up on clearance for $2 a quart and purolator classic filter. My last oil change (6 quarts and a filter) cost me less than $15.

If you want to save money, I don't think you can beat the purolator classic filters as long as they have $1.50 rebate going on.

Finding oil on clearance is getting harder and harder though

ok I stay with 5k miles on this quaker state, mabe it will last me thru winter. Next oil change will be PYB and do a UOA.

PYB at 5k intervals sounds like a good plan.
Read up on your manual and follor the severe service intervals.
