Do mobil 1 filters come pre oiled?

Bought a mobil 1 108a from walmart for my oil change. Im pretty careful when buying filters since people like to open them up and mess with them. I took a box that looked untouched and it had the plastic shrink wrap still around the filter base. Took it off and noticed there was clean oil around the rubber gasket. Other than that filter looked brand new and unused. So i used it now I'm a bit worried after the fact because i don’t recall their filter gaskets coming pre lubed. .

Some filters come that way to prevent dry installation from folks that don't oil the gasket. If it had shrink wrap intact, you're most likely good to go. You would be able to tell right then and there if there had been oil inside the filter. The residual seep from the element would produce visible oil at the bottom.

The new Mobil 1 filters made in Korea and Vietnam are wrapped like PGI made filters. The chances of someone using it and reapplying the wrap are slim to none. These filters are extremely high quality now. Highly recommend. I have a virgin c&p posted here.

Yea I opened a M1-110 a couple weeks ago and was surprised the oring was lubed and covered with the plastic. First time in the 11 years I've seen that with them in the 11-on-and-off years.

Filters coming from overseas may be oiled lightly so they don't rust while getting shipped. The high salt content in the air with high humidity while on the ship for weeks could rust the filters.

Even domestically produced filters are oiled, the insides are bare steel without protection they could rust in normal unconditioned warehouse and transit condtions.

What did it look like down the center tube? If it was used, the filter would be an oily mess no matter how well someone tried to drain it.

The Carqust Premiums and MicroGard Selects aren't oily under the cellophane cover (I've both some of both). It could be a Mobil spec on their new filters coming out of Asia.
