Yeah my Dad had his LP's in the 1960's (I have them now). tube around and listen, pretty awesome stuff, at least IMHO. He was no doubt a jazz great, and a pure musical genius.

Yes, yet another GREAT one gone.

He basically forced the coining of the term "avant garde" jazz (to me at least, and YES, I have heard of Messrs. Monk/Coltrane/Davis/Parker/etc.), and became an ICON in the process.

I have seen him perform twice....what a great musician he was! And he seemed like a really cool guy too.
