iPone offers two JASO FD approved oils based on full synthetic ester technology:

  1. Scooter Oil: $29 for 1L, available at https://iponeoils.com.au/product/scoot-run-2-strawberry-1l/
  2. Dirt Bike Oil: $36 for 1L, available at https://iponeoils.com.au/product/samourai-racing-strawberry-1l/
They also have a JASO FD rated semi-synthetic oil marketed for dirt bikes:

  1. Semi Synthetic Dirt Bike Oil: $24 for 1L, available at https://iponeoils.com.au/product/r2000-rs-strawberry-1l/
Additionally, there is a JASO FD rated semi-synthetic scooter oil priced at $20 per liter which can been seen here: https://iponeoils.com.au/product/scoot-city-strawberry-1l/

Note: all oils listed are suitable for injection as well as pre mix

The question at hand is: If your dirt bike requires JASO FD 2T oil and you have the iPone range to choose from, what justifies paying $36 for a full synthetic dirt bike oil instead of opting for the $20 per liter JASO FD semi-synthetic scooter oil?

Let's discuss and hear your opinions on this matter.

Given that they both meet the same spec (and are licensed), I'd say not much justifies paying nearly 2x more for the same assurance.

It's entirely possible that the more expensive lube may perform "better" than the lessor one, but honestly I doubt you'd ever notice it on a scooter. The full syn lube may have some minor advantages in certain conditions over the long term, but in practical applications, I doubt you'd run the scooter long enough to matter.
