I'm trying Castrol Magnatec synthetic blend 5w30 in my Ecoboost 2.0L for a 5K OCI.Would it pay to use a blend or a full synthetic?I do mostly highway. Thanks Joe

Its disappearing from the shelves so dont get too in love with it. Is it good..yes. 5K OCI..yes. For 5K oil changes mostly highway miles you can easily do conventional.

Magnatec is a fantastic oil for the price and there are several UOA's posted on here in an Ecoboost that looked as good as could be hoped for. How long are your OCI's?

I have Magnatec 5w30 in our KIA now, fourth consecutive run and I have a sample from the third sitting next to me that I need to send in. Very happy with it.

I think I paid $17 for a jug of full Synthetic. Whats the price difference to go to blend? With temp this AM at -28 and we still have a lot more winter to go my choice of full synthetic won't break the bank or keep me awake worrying about putting it in the 2.0 in the Transit

Conventional? Not on a EcoBoost.Absolutely not.Its DI and turbocharged so find a full synthetic thats HTO-6 spec'd or M1 0w40

Castrol Magnatec does quite well in EB motors my father has used it extensively in his Ford Escape with an EB motor. He did a UOA a few months ago at 5,000 miles running Castrol Mag and it was a real good report. I also use it in my Nissan Pathfinder 4.0 V6 and it seems to like it.
