Wondering if i can use gas additives, like MMO, lucas ucl, gumout gas treatment, and additves that clean the injectors and combustion chambers, via adding to fuel. iw as thining, if i had some fuel leakage, might it interfere with auto -rx?
If you got enough fuel dilution, I suppose it might. I'm in the middle of a double Auto-Rx treatment, about 180 miles into clean phase #2. In my gas tank, I've been using the "Molabrew" mix of 3 parts Fuel Power to 1 part Neutra, at a rate of about 1 oz to 4 to 5 gallons of gas, since before beginning clean phase #1. I don't worry about it, but then my car has fresh plugs, PCV valve, & air filter, plus a proven track record of no fuel dilution problems.
My advice would be to only use fuel additives that increase combustion efficiency, or if you're worried about it just don't use any at all while you're Auto-RX-ing. From your list of potential additives, I have no experience with any of those.
One thing I'd absolutely advise against with Auto-RX- the Mopar Combustion Chamber cleaner that used to be recommended so often over at Neons dot org. After using that stuff, oil & filter should be changed *immediately*!
Well, I'll take a different slant on it. I would rather get any contamination ..and any side effects done while I have Auto-Rx also liberating crap from the engine. I wouldn't want to do it with my regular oil ..especially if I intend to test it. I'd rather screw with already "altered states".
Just to ease any anxieties ..do it a tank or two before you intend to change the oil.
Hi stuart! Yes, i am aware of mopar CCC. I use it once a year, on my 1995 neon. i change plugs, and pcv valve once a year too. i was curious, thats all...
Stuart!! i got a question! i see you here, and on neons.org alot your mad cool man...
my 95 neon, i took my trip counter out of mydash, and put it back in, and it dosnt work anymore. it was slugish, only working when i dorve over 60 MPH. i took it ou again, reset to 000, and now it dosnt ork at all! what gives wih it? i called mopar, and a new trip counter, goes for $295! any ideas? i was trying ot install a tach cluster, but i need a circuit board, which ive ordered...
Thanks Stuart Figured something like this would happen to me lol. i jsut started auto-rx, and my trip counter, and mileage counter stopped working;( So i have no idea, of my true mileage. i am jsut gunna run for 3 months, on conventional, then do another auto-rx from scratch, do it right!
No problems zesty? cool i wa wondering, thats all. i dont think i have a feul leak or anything, jsu wondered out of curiosity, and too make sure, thats all! YEAH! That Lucas UCL is something else!
Beats the heck outta MMO too!
i think its odd, thats all, about my trip counter.. All i did was unscrew 2 tiny screws, and removed it. i saw the little wheel motors in back of trip counter, they dont look broke, or anything. Im trying my hardest to figure it out...
i do hear though, on our neons, that little clock motor in thier, is notorious for goin bad.... just think its odd, since i didnt touch any of its
components! Strange, hugh?
I can't tell you how to fix your trip counter, mine is still going OK. But if mine died like that, I'd try getting a whole instrument/speedometer pod at a wrecking yard. You could then rob the trip meter out of that- or maybe just swap in the entire unit.
May be thats part of the anti- mess with the odometer consumer safety secrets employeed by the manufacturers. On a more serious note, if you know the average miles per tank full of gas you observe in your unit, you could gage your miles run with ARX over the number of fuel gallons added. No need to abort or waste your application. There is always another way to skin the cat.
